I read 111 cases, 75 in Toronto

Kingston had 18 after none for a while, nail salon and spa outbreak, apparently some had travelled from Toronto to spa.
CP24 news say 30 cases for Toronto. I think brampton had like 29 so sometimes people include Brampton in Toronto numbers.

Testing although helpful is only a tiny fraction of da solution here. When there are 10X more people with cOVID than actual cases and when 30% of tests are not conclusive due to error factor then you are right testing does not give real serious insights. What to look at is hospitalizations and deaths. And both have dropped like a stone in past month. We are coming out of this. Lets hope we don't get a 2nd wave in late fall.

The second wave is up to us.

If we continue to wear masks.... and ideally mandate them... continue to distance. Continue to wash hands. Continue to work from home when we can. Continue to keep our borders closed to the USA as much as we can. If folks consent to using that app that is coming.

If we do things like that, we can stay on top of it and contract trace.

There is no reason we cannot have an open economy, some semblance of in person schools AND keep people safe.

If folks relax on any of the aboveboard though... there will absolutely be a second wave.

Not that anyone would want to travel to the United States right now for a vacation, I found out today that Canadians can still fly there despite the land border crossings being closed for non-essential travel. However when you fly back into Canada you need to self quarantine for 14 days.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/business/u-s-travel-restrictions-covid-19-land-border-fly-1.5607741

Personally speaking it's less expensive to drive when I have gone to Orlando, Florida by car down the 401 to Windsor and crossing at the Ambassador Bridge in Detroit onto Interstate 75, when you factor in the cost of a flight and a rental car.

As of this morning, only 2 US states are seeing a decline in cases.

And the notion of granting quarantine exemptions to allow Baseball players who have traveled from the USA has never looked more ridiculous.

Oh, there is definately going to be a 2nd wave. There are FAR TOO MANY COVIDIOTS among us!

I'm so tired of going into Loblaws, Independent, and Costco etc. only to be among people wearing no masks, wearing them improperly, and completely ignoring physical distancing guidlines!

I have also witnessed some pigs that leave public washrooms without washing their frigging hands.

If we somehow avoid a 2nd wave, it'll be a frigging miracle!

I’m wondering what’s stopping our leaders from mandating masks.

Too many people are not only covidiots they are also anti-authority. Mandating would only work if stiff penalties for non-compliance were administered.

A lot of people put their FREEDOMS, ahead of my personal health safety!

A lot of folks are misguided.

Imagine if they held a rally today to express their FREEDOMS.

They would drive in cars with seatbelt laws. In vehicles that have to pass safety standards. And would drive on the side of the road mandated by the law.

So silly.

Does this sound similar to Climate Change alarmists who preach from their hypocritical soap-box from their cell-phones/computers/heated houses/non-organic vehicles? It doesn't stop people.

People just need to be more responsible. Wearing masks help but somehow people think they don’t. For some reasons, I don’t know why there are still Doctors saying masks won’t help or explains in a way that the effect of masks is at best minimum. Then there are people sharing videos of masks making factories and how they unsanitized the working area is....

I think some of the messaging regarding masks is that they are important BUT not the cure all.

You still have to wash your hands. Not touch your face. And stay a safe distance from people.

Health professionals worry that people will relax the above if they feel safe in a mask.

So they issue caution.

And sadly that caution is taken by some to the extreme to say “well if they don’t work... what’s the point?”

In the end, we are better off using ALL the tools vs SOME. And certainly better off using SOME instead of NONE.

Wearing a mask is so easy.

Speaking of idiots, this guy is wanted for stealing an auger from the local Home Depot.

Source: Suspect sought in theft of electric drain auger - BarrieToday.com

It happened a few days ago on June 18.

During a pandemic. When wearing a mask is ok.

This genius figures he’s going in to steal something.

In a store with video cameras.

He can wear a mask. Society is completely fine with mask wearing.

And he chooses not to. Again, going in with the intent to steal something. He chooses not to wear a mask.

But in an effort to protect himself from COVID (or leaving fingerprints on the cart that will be wiped down)... he wears GLOVES.

I guess he’s not one of those socialist criminals.

Pardon the pun... but what a tool.

No doubt about. Whenever I have a discussions with friends and colleagues about Masks, I just use wearing a condom as an example.
Not 100% safe but yet, it is better than not wearing one.

If I am not mistaken; during the time of spanish flu; 2nd wave was more deadly than the 1st wave

what are the expectations moving forward regarding covid? are the expectations from experts that 2nd wave is going to be more more severe, about the same or less severe?
