I hope everybody gets your vaccine shots ASAP. I work in purchasing for a Florida hospital and got my second shot on February 11th. Broward county is doing a good job with the vaccine roll out compared to Miami Dade. Hospital mgmt. is still very concerned with the various strains that are out there but can’t really come out and state that position because of politics.

So my dad's in hospital with COVID and severe pneumonia (both lungs affected).
Other sick: my mom, brother, grandmother, grandfather, two pregnant cousins, my aunt and male cousin.

My grandfather's also been hospitalized today. Nothing new with my dad (he spent some time in the ICU but then they moved him back to "regular covid room" because they don't have enough beds).

A Czech MP died today of COVID. Wonder if that changes anything for those guys in the parliament who still seem to care more about the upcoming autumn election than people dying...

Update on my dad, in case anyone's wondering...
For a few days it was really close whether they'd put him in a medical coma or not (50% survival rate there). Thankfully, he's been improving lately - it's still soon but he seems to have turned a corner about a week ago. They've been reducing his oxygen and his meds, he's engaged with the world around him again, organizing stuff for everyone from the hospital bed which is a bit annoying but really just a huge relief :D Still can't go without oxygen for long (twenty minutes at most) but he seems to be recovering, knocking on wood here.
(Our GP sent him and two women to the hospital with COVID the same day, apparently the two women are dead. Still makes me dizzy to even think about it.)

The rest of my family has either recovered by now or are doing reasonably well, including my grandmother and my grandfather.

Thanks for the update. You've had a rough ride, so it's great to hear that things are heading in the right direction!

Some good news here...

My dad is back home!!! :D He has to take a whole bag of meds including heparin shots three times a day, but he looks pretty well. Obviously a long recovery ahead - when he walks up a short stairs, he needs to sit down afterwards and just catch his breath for about five minutes; he has to see about six different specialists over the next six months - but he's clearly getting better every day.
Huge relief for all of us to have him back home.

The rest of the family have recovered as well.

Dad has leukemia, diabetes etc is 73 and is only getting his first shot next week. Most hospital workers dont have the shot in Finland either. What a mess

Sorry to hear that. They're not much faster in Canada. April 1st they just started Phase 2 of a three-phase program to get people vaccinated in Canada. They hope to be completed by September of this year.
