I'd be shocked if Broberg turns out better than Bouchard... Bouchard to me is head and shoulders better... but it would be fantastic if Broberg could even be close to the level of Bouchard as you'd have 2 top pairing dmen coming up the ranks.
Bouchard's weakness seems to be skating and Broberg's weakness seems to be his puck skills.

Both have apparently worked hard on those this summer.

So yes, you could theoretically have two top-pairing D there...

Pretty fantastic problem to have :)

Interesting that he put Broberg on top. Pronman has been consistently extremely high on Bouchard.

Nice to finally be satisfied with the state of our D prospect pool. Don't remember the last time we could say that about guys we drafted.

On the Athletic there is a new article (written on August 27th) that Ranks the Oilers farm system 9th best.

His top Oiler prospects list:

1. Philip Broberg, D, AIK-Allsvenskan

2. Evan Bouchard, D, Bakersfield-AHL

3. Dmitri Samorukov, D, Guelph-OHL

4. Tyler Benson, LW, Bakersfield-AHL

5. Raphael Lavoie, RW, Halifax-QMJHL

6. Kailer Yamamoto, RW, Bakersfield-AHL

7. Caleb Jones, D, Bakersfield-AHL

8. Ryan McLeod, C, Saginaw-OHL

9. Cooper Marody, RW, Bakersfield-AHL

10. Ilya Konovalov, G, Yaroslavl-KHL
Wow Konovalov is pretty high

Even for a 20 year old he had a pretty impressive season
Putting them side by side, in Bobrovsky's last season in the KHL (outside of the lockout) he posted a:

[TR][TH]SeasonTeam LgeGPAPIMMinGAENSOGAAWLTSvsPctGPAPIM
[TBODY] [/TH][/TR][/TBODY]
[TR][TH]
2009-10Novokuznetsk MetallurgKHL350 4 1964 89 0 1 2.72 922310040.919---
[TBODY] [/TBODY]
Considering how awful his team was, however, he was forced to make 1004 saves that season.

Looking at Konovalov's 20 year old season:

2018-19Yaroslavl Lokomotiv KHL45 00 241776 010 1.89 2515110040.930812
[TBODY] [/TBODY]
Same amount of saves made (in 10 more games, mind you), higher sv%, less GA, etc.

By all reports he's coming in around 6'0, so two less inches than Bobrovsky, but IIRC it was said that he looked bigger than his dimensions suggested to one our scouts at the draft.

Again, it has to be stressed that at the same age, Konovalov is playing on a much better team than Bobrovsky was dealing with, but the numbers look great at a straight comparison.

Goalies are a crapshoot, but I'll put stock in this kid and go as far as saying we have a steal with this kid in the third round.[/TH][/TR]

With Makisimov's shot I would have ranked him higher than this. Wouldn't it be sweet if those Mc-David passes start hitting the stick of a player who can really bury them?

Myself and many others hope you are right. I'm just happy with have quite a few players coming up to full holes instead of having all our bets on only a couple players.
Broberg is a stud. He is better than Bouchard. Love Bouchard but he will be a pp specialist. Broberg will be the next OEL. kids a stud.

Lol

Of course, but I was implying anyone 1 or 2 (like last year when Klef and Russell both went down at the same time) would be season ending again. We need the same luck like we had in the 2016-17 season. Realistically we just don't have the depth on D to weather a storm like last year.
I don't think there are many teams that could weather 3 out of 4 behind down at the same time for an extended duration. Not many teams have they kind of depth. Not in the cap era at least.
