He's producing at a ridiculous rate and he doesn't even look nearly like himself so far this season with the exception of last game. I feel confident he will score 140 points this year with scoring up and our PP clicking.

Pretty awesome to see. One of my bold predictions was that McDavid would score 150 pts this season, I am not really considering that to be so bold anymore (even though it would obviously be surprising).

McDavid is just the best.

Edit: Also Gretzky's numbers are bonkers.
Don't forget that Gretzky tailed off in the last 3-5 yrs of his career. The stats are flawed. If you take only Gretzky's same number of years as Mcdavid which is about 4-5 years, it should be about 2.10-2.25/game. If you take it a bit further, you get an even higher number. Sportsnet is only using Mcdavid's first few years. They should compare apples to apples. Would a 35 yr old Mcdavid keep up with 1.3 pts per game in the modern era? Nope.

1337 points from 1979 to 1986.
553 games.

1337/553 = 2.41/game for Gretzky.

Connor #2 in the league and I think he's just getting the rust off right now. On pace for 143 points.

Also he should just put a belt with rings on him, so guys can sled behind him without having to grab onto his uniform to catch a ride.

McDAVID REACHES 400-POINT MILESTONE WITH HAT TRICK PERFORMANCE
With his mom in attendance as part of the Oilers first ‘Mother’s Trip’, Connor McDavid (3-0—3) registered his fifth hat trick and 45th three-point game to record his 400th NHL point (139-263—402).

* The Oilers captain became the 13th player in NHL history to require 306 or fewer games to reach the 400-career point milestone and joined Penguins captain Sidney Crosby as just the second active player to accomplish the feat in that span.

* McDavid (22 years, 301 days), who became the eighth player in League history to record his 400th career point before his 23rd birthday, is the only active player – and 17th in NHL history – to register 45 three-point performances en route to reaching the 400-point benchmark.

McD3-11011255.png

* McDavid (11-19—30) and Draisaitl (14-20—34) each reached the 30-point mark through Edmonton’s 19th game of 2019-20 - marking the fifth instance in the last 25 years that teammates each accomplished the feat prior to their team’s 20th game.

* Draisaitl factored on all three of McDavid’s goals to match a career-high with four assists (also Dec. 11, 2015 vs. NYR) and extend his point streak to nine contests dating to Oct. 24 (8-10—18). After previously posting a season-opening point streak of eight games, he is one of four players since 1989-90 to post multiple eight-game point streaks prior to his team’s 20th game. The others: Steven Stamkos (2012-13 w/ TBL), Rod Brind’Amour (1993-94 w/ PHI) and Brian Bradley (1992-93 w/ TBL).

FIRST STAR – CONNOR McDAVID, C, EDMONTON OILERS

McDavid led all skaters with 3-7—10 in three appearances last week for the Pacific Division-leading Edmonton Oilers (13-6-3, 29 points). He opened the week with one assist in a 6-3 loss to the San Jose Sharks Nov. 12. McDavid then recorded a career-high six points (3-3—6), including his sixth career hat trick, in a 6-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche Nov. 14. In doing so, McDavid became the first Oilers skater to record six or more points in a game since Sam Gagner on Feb. 2, 2012 (4-4—8). He closed the week with a three-assist performance in a 5-4 overtime loss to the Dallas Stars Nov. 16. The 22-year-old Richmond Hill, Ont., native ranks second in the League with 14-26—40 in 22 games, trailing only teammate Leon Draisaitl (16-27—43 in 22 GP), and has been held pointless in just five of 22 appearances this season.

There was an interview with his girlfriend during the last game or the one before and she said something about him playing really well now after having an injury. I didn't catch the whole segment but I recall he was slashed pretty hard a few times on the hands earlier in the season and noticed his passing and stick handling was 'off' for a while after that.
Or, he got that darn flu shot again and got strep/sick for the third year in a row.

Figured this belonged here.

Every year the goalposts change. Mcdavid and Drai are dominating the league points wise, are looking likely to make the post season, but suddenly supporting cast is too important so mackinnon is mvp front runner.

What an absolute joke of an award.

Eh. I doubt it, it's just discussion to build clicks. Almost every year they just default to most points plus playoffs, and dragging the Oil to a playoff position would probably make Connor a lock. The real failure is the lack of recognition Draisaitl is getting. Imo he's the Hart pick so far this year.

For instance, this article was posted today:

This stuff bugs me. Same sort of early season momentum to get minds thinking about creating new criteria for awarding the MVP.

McDavid's team did not make the playoffs, so he can't be MVP.
McDavid and Drai have each other as teammates so they can't be MVP.

Funny that Crosby still got the MVP with Malkin in 2013/2014.
And that Kucherov got the MVP with Stamkos and Point in 2018/2019.

Hence why the Lindsay is the better trophy. More clear about what the trophy is and is voted on by the players, not media guys that don't even watch a lot of Western games.

Yeah I agree that the Hart isn’t nearly as good as being recognized by your peers, it’s just so frustrating how much the media hypes it up as being the best individual trophy you can win (Because they’re the ones voting of course..).

As if the media hyping up an award voted for by people who watch half the games isn’t bad enough, they then change the goalposts every time someone looks to be a favourite so they can stir up some stories, and unfortunately the people voting buy into this crap.

I really shouldn’t put stock into what these media guys say about Edmonton considering how little they see of us being all eastern media people, but it doesn’t make it any less frustrating to see these two not get the respect they deserve. How anyone can convince themselves that mcdavid or Drai aren’t the mvp right now is beyond me, especially for mackinnon.

The hart is a clown shoes award voted on by such industry giants as mark spector. Not worth the toilet paper the ballots are printed on.

Rantanen is back, that takes Mackinnon out of the running too I guess.

McDavid, MacKinnon and Kane Named NHL ‘Three Stars’ for November

NovStars-01124113.png

FIRST STAR – CONNOR McDAVID, C, EDMONTON OILERS

McDavid topped the NHL in goals (13), points (26), power-play goals (6) and power-play points (11) across 14 contests to power the Pacific Division-leading Oilers (16-9-3, 35 points) to a 7-5-2 November. McDavid found the scoresheet in all but two of his appearances, highlighted by an 11-game point streak from Nov. 4-24 (12-12—24). He registered multiple points seven times, including a hat trick Nov. 10 at ANA and a career-high six points Nov. 14 vs. COL (3-3—6) – making him the first Edmonton player with as many points in a game since Feb. 2, 2012 (Sam Gagner: 4-4—8 vs. CHI). McDavid also reached the 400-point benchmark Nov. 10 at ANA, becoming the 13th-fastest player in League history to hit the milestone (306 GP). The 22-year-old Richmond Hill, Ont., native and two-time Art Ross Trophy winner paces the NHL with 49 points through 28 total outings this season. He also ranks among the top three in the League in power-play points (1st; 21), assists (2nd; 30), power-play assists (2nd; 13), goals (3rd; 19) and power-play goals (t-3rd; 8).

Agreed. Stamkos and Point at 90+ points didn't seem to derail the Kucherov for Hart votes.
