I enjoyed watching McDavid's reactions to some of the media scrum injury questions. Pretty sure what he wanted to say to half the questions was, "f*** off!...Next question." Thankfully Rishaug finally asked a hockey related question.

You can tell it’s so obvious by McDavids smile he is being held here at gunpoint and would rather be in Toronto with Pornstache, PeeJays and Hairspray.

We will never know the truth.

"What's that scar on your knee, Connor?"

"Bug bite."

Gotta think Spec was on the sauce yesterday. Can't see how McDavid getting knee surgery would have gone completely under the radar.

Arthroscopic surgery is quite minor with a rapid heal time. It's possible a doc could have poked in there to help speed up the healing.

He’s obviously 100% but the club doesn’t want to waste him on preseason. The club can’t say that’s why though as it wouldn’t look good to the fansWhen he’s lifting Lord Stanley nobody is going to care that they didn’t get to see him in preseason against the Canucks 4th liners.

Seems like forever since Rishaug has asked him how he's feeling again. Starting to get worried!

Connor is still getting to game shape after long injury&recovery but is still being very effective player. For my eyes it seems that he gets more help from guys around him than before. They are all that small step better and we get rid of Lucic who made our PP worse everytime he was on the ice (at least two last seasons in Oilers).
Great to see him having fun on the ice too, really liked todays game and Connor chirping with DD8 and also other LA talking heads.

If you want to just feel good about McDavid:

October 5 Rapid Reaction (feat. Eric Duhatschek): Oilers 6, Kings 5 - LA Kings Insider

Drew Doughty, on battling with McDavid:
I love it. [Reporter: What’s it like?] It’s almost impossible sometimes, honestly. He just glides by guys. You lnow what, some people say he’s the best player in the league, some people say other guys are, but the difference for me with him is – I love playing against the other guys that have great vision. They compete hard, but if they don’t have that speed, they’re not as intimidating as Connor McDavid is with that speed, because he has all those tools with that speed. I took that penalthy, he was gliding by me, literally, and I’m like bagging myself to get it. It’s so hard to play against him. I thought my buddy here Bjorns played great against him. He had some good battles with him, too. I love playing against Connor, but I realize a lot of the times he’s going to make me look foolish, and that’s just the bottom line.
Doughty, on getting hits in against McDavid and Zack Kassian:
Oh yeah. I got Draisaitl too, so I got all three of the big boys. I obviously enjoy playing physical, but the thing I’m most looking forward to doing is not being on for any goals against. Unfortunately, I got pickpocketed by McDavid and they made two nice plays after that. There’s another time where he kind of got me. I thought I had him, and he let me win the body position and just lifted my stick, so I just should’ve won that battle.

Friedman jumps straight into my personal ignore list with this: Friedman: “I think they’ve got two years to show McDavid they’re going in the right direction.”

He also mentions McDavid getting fed up in this 31 thoughts: 31 Thoughts: NHL opening night promises intrigue, fireworks - Sportsnet.ca

The more this is talked about in the media the more real the possibility becomes. These guys need to shut up about it.
They are trying to sell a product. The audience is Toronto first and the rest of the country afterwards. TO loves the McDavid is not happy story. It makes the fact that he plays in Edmonton acceptable.

Friedman is overreacting to the purge that occurred at Sportsnet during the off-season.

Basically, Rogers has made it clear that if you criticize or don't support the Leafs all the time you have no place there. Kyprios (despite me not liking him for other reasons) and McLean were both fired because in the eyes of Rogers, they were too harsh on the Leafs.

It's just bluster and speculation.

That being said, if we don't make the playoffs in 2 years, McDavid won't be the only Oiler with major gripes with the organization.

This seems to be the case and it drives me insane. It's funny how you don't hear a peep about Eichel maybe wanting out of Buffalo, or any other young stars on struggling teams. The anti-Edmonton bias is glaring with this stuff.

Hopefully this is just Friedman playing to his TO-centric audience and this 2 year window is just speculation.
