Good Luck Leek.....Jeez seems like a war.

Thanks.

I find this pretty entertaining. Columbus is a battleground today in many ways. We have some huge political battles, battles in education, the Governor is going after the police, fire fighters, nurses and teachers. There was a big battle over this casino and now the Dispatch has picked a fight over the arena.

With all of this ongoing, who needs to pay for entertainment?

The thing is if this does not work out the owners will threaten to move.

As I've posted many times before, even though I've had season tickets for years, I'm fine with that. I just want the same organization to stay intact in their new home if that happens. This organization makes the Leafs look good.

When I was a kid, when laced em up, I was Stan Mikita. We had an IHL team that was a farm team of the Blackhawks. My dad took me often. It was a lot like Slapshot, but 15 years before the movie. Then in college I became a Flyers fan, I just loved the Broad Street Bullies. The Hammer, Van Impe, "O" Kindrachuk, the Red Army game.

If the CBJ go, I'll keep going to Flyers games, I'll go to OSU Hockey, maybe some AHL. If we're lucky, someone would put an AHL team here.

I hope not thought. Where will they go. Cleveland is poorer by the second and Cincy does not even have a stadium

They lost 25 million. Ouch :(

Between the Pipes
Report: Blue Jackets lost $25 million last season, $80 million over six years

http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/...illion-last-season-80-million-over-six-years/

There are four main reasons for the sharp increase in losses: rising player salaries, plummeting attendance, a 25 percent cut in the Blue Jackets’ revenue sharing check, and the ongoing (endless?) lease agreement issues between the Blue Jackets and Nationwide Arena.

Would be a true shame if there's not a single NHL team in the entire state of Ohio by the time this untangles itself. I thought Ohio was a great hockey state!

They could try to get them up to Cleveland....Quicken Loans could be upgraded for 10 mil or so. Gilbert would own them.

If you want an idea of the CBJ's reported P&L Statements read this:

http://www.forwardtogethercolumbus.org/img/BuserReport-Complete.pdf

From the report:

Accordingly, based on all of the information I have reviewed, and while I acknowledge that a case can be made for alternative accounting measures of the critical financial gap, it is my opinion that $12 million per year is a conservative measure of the critical financial gap that needs to be addressed. It is not necessarily an accident, nor a coincidence, that the magnitude of the financial gap faced by the Blue Jackets, $12 million per year, is approximately the same as the competitive disadvantage the Blue Jackets face vis a vis other NHL teams.

Frankly, I hope you review the report and let us know what you think. I think the study overstates the losses and I'm also a bit confounded by Dr. Buser's methodolgy.

How many times must I say it. The NHLPA is ruining the NHL.

How can people blame Columbus fans for this? Their team hasn't won a single playoff game in their entire existence. The highest they've ever finished in their own division is 3rd, and that was in 05-06.

Oh gawd, now Columbus Blue Jackets are in trouble? I better not hear WPG's name brought into their problems. Frankly I do not want this team to move here. I'd rather take the Atlanta Thrashers instead.

But just wait you'll probably hear WPG in the news as possible relocation. The NHL is a joke now. Worst Run Sports league EVER!

Please, please, please! I pray every night that the Blue Jackets move to Winnipeg, keep the same ownership and management and punish all of those Winnipeg fans for begging for an NHL team much like Columbus has been punished for the same thing.

Isn't 10 seasons in 11 years enough punishment?

Columbus GM Doug MacLean in 2000:
"Rostislav Klesla is going to be a great two way defenseman. He will make people forget about Nick Lidstrom! Take that to the bank!"

Columbus GM Doug MacLean in 2003:
"Nikolai Zherdev is the next major superstar in the NHL! He has offensive upside higher even than Eric Staal and Nathan Horton."

In 2005, according to the Columbus Dispatch, MacLean upbraided 20-year-old Nikolai Zherdev in front of teammates and reporters in the locker room with "a stern and half-unprintable admonishment."

Columbus GM Doug MacLean in 2003:
"Todd Marchant is the franchise #1 Center we've all been waiting for. I guarantee this team is going to make a deep playoff run!"

Columbus GM Doug MacLean in 2006:
"Since when are you an expert on hockey? What the hell do you know? I wouldn't trade the Blue Jackets roster for the Detroit Red Wings roster!"

Columbus GM Scott Howson in 2009:
"Well yes, we go swept in our only playoff appearance in history. We think we have the talent now to become a real Cup contender, so there is no need to add to the current roster."

At which time he chose to let Manny Malhotra and Michael Peca walk as UFAs. Didn't need them :shakehead

Columbus GM Scott Howson in 2010:
"Well, we understand we finished in 14th place in the West, but we believe our roster is good enough to contend for a Cup.We just need to change to a coach who understands the "new" NHL. There is no reason to think we should upgrade our roster."

After finishing in 13th place in the West

Columbus GM Scott Howson in 2011:
"We aren't good enough on the ice. We have to try to make changes on the ice."

Please take this rag tag group.

Winnipeg!

If that's not available go to Hamilton and punish them. Finally, if they can't get Copps up to date in time, then move them to Quebec City AND put 'em in Colisée.
I am still stunned at recent news. When you look at the support the team has received, given complete organizational failure, it is amazing to think that there is now talk of them moving.

One season in ten with a winning record. One legitimate playoff chase. Yet they've averaged 16.5K a year (prior to this season - haven't done the calculations). What might have happened, had they had even capable management in place, at some point?

Of course, the mouthbreathers will never stop denigrating the corpse, once the team is gone.

This wouldn't be an issue if the Jackets weren't an AHL team on NHL ice. If we had a winner, this wouldnt be a problem.
