The first-place Blue Jackets got back in the win column with a victory over Calgary last night - the first of how many consecutive wins, fans are wondering. ;)

With the trade deadline approaching, there will be a lot of teams maneuvering for the playoffs - either buying or selling. It's a fair bet the Blue Jackets won't be selling, but they may be interested buyers.

"We're looking for anything that will improve our team", GM Doug Emerson told reporters after last night's win, "not just this season but for next year as well. As it stands we've got a couple of holes we'd like to fill for next season, and while we can certainly do that over the summer, if we can maake additions that will provide us with depth heading into the playoffs, we'll certainly explore those options."

Top of the Jackets' shopping list are thought to be a scoring RW, two depth defencemen and a backup goaltender, but given the expected hard-cap for next season and the team's projected financial commitments, any players would have to have reasonable salaries. What Emerson has to play with is up in the air, but is thought to consist mainly of picks and prospects.

umm...my guess is 1

Lol! Too true, too true. Couldn't expect the same level of performance we saw through that run, but we do hope to hold off the charging Wild and Sharks for hte Conference, and of course the Blackhawks for the Division title. Lots of hockey to play yet, though. At least it's an exciting race!
