New to the forum, so...

Name: Nick
Sex: Male
Age: 15
Location: Ballarat, Australia
Status: Single; open to all genders
Occupation: High school student
Favourite musical artist(s): Damn, there's a lot...well, my favourite band is Green Day, but I'm also a fan of the Beatles, Nirvana, Radiohead, and the Offspring.
Favourite TV shows: Don't really watch much TV
Favourite books: The Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Jurassic Park, The Chocolate War
Favourite Avs: I'm waiting for a while to decide...
Favourite Ex-Avs: Probably David Aebischer (he kicked arse in NHL 2004 on the Xbox )
Next-favourite teams: Either Calgary (Dad's team from the 90s) or the Maple Leafs (Canadian friend online supports them)
How and when did you become an Avs fan: Wanted to play through a season of the aforementioned Xbox game, so I looked at all the teams and went through a process of elimination (nice colours, not too successful) and ended up with Colorado. That was probably four or five months ago.
Favourite Avs moment: None yet...

Long time lurker, first time poster! Looking to increase my knowledge of the game and have a little fun in the process.

Also, I couldn't un-bold my answers, so please bear with me as I figure HFLife out. Lol

Name Ryan
Gender: Male
Age: 26
Occupation: Assistant Manager @ Barnes and Noble, Barista
Favorite TV show: Game of Thrones
Favorite Book(s) or Author(s): Walter Mores, Chuck Palahniuk, Dr. Seuss
Favorite Av: MacKinnon, Rantanen, or Zadorov
Favorite Ex-Av: Forsberg
Favorite non-Av: At the moment, Kucherov.
Next or other favorite team: I enjoy other teams but it's all about the Avalanche
How else is hockey in your life?: Unfortunately it isn't apart of my life other then compulsively following the Avs.
Favorite Av moment: 2001. The second Cup for the Avs, right after the Broncos won back to back Superbowls. I was 10, championships were all I knew. Lol
How and when did you become an Av fan?: I'm a native. Broncos, Rockies, Nuggets, Avs, Rapids, Mammoth, Outlaws, and DU all came with the territory in my household.

Favorite TV show: Vikings, The Walking Dead, Big Bang Theory, Hawaii Five-0

Next favorite team: Hurricanes
Favorite Av moment: P.A. Parenteau game-tying goal against Minny in the 14 Play-Offs Game 5
How and when did you become an Avs fan: 1996 - limited access to NHL hockey in europe, only one magazine covered it a little bit. (2 pages every week). Roy was the best goalie at the time and since I was playing goalie myself, I became a "fan" (aka. taking the Avs in the EA games since I had no chance to watch games). Started following in the 03-04 campaign per NHL radio and news articles. Viewed the 01 cup live though.
How and When Did You Become a hockey fan: Started playing hockey when I was 3 years old, so...
How else is hockey in your life: Playing myself
Position: Goalie, sometimes forward

Gender: Male
Age: Mid-30's
Occupation: Ex-audio engineer, currently social media specialist relocating to Denver!
Favoite Music Artist(s): Too many to name...Stereolab, Dillinger Escape Plan, Sonic Youth, Miles Davis
Favorite TV show: Breaking Bad

Favorite Av: Gabriel Landeskog
Favorite Ex-Av: Claude Lemieux
Favorite non-Av: Mathew Barzal
Next or other favorite team: Islanders...
How else is hockey in your life?: Played roller and a little ice in college; goaltending took a toll on my hips, so I went from that into sound reinforcement.
Favorite Av moment: The Avalanche was the first non-Isles team I followed, due to Lemieux's grit in the '96 finals.
How and when did you become an Av fan?: Had a soft-spot for the Avs since the '96 playoffs...followed the Isles more since moving to Austin, TX in 2004, but the Avalanche has been my WC team. In a week, the Pepsi center will be a 30-minute bus from my new home!

Age: 25
Occupation: Studying engineering
Favorite TV shows: Fargo, Game of Thrones, Entourage, Band of Brothers
Favorite Avs: Mackinnon, Girard, Sens 2019 first :naughty:
Favorite Ex-Av: Forsberg
Favorite non-Av: Rasmus Dahlin
Next or other favorite team: If I had to pick one it'd be Tampa

How else is hockey in your life?: Played a bit when I was a kid. Also got to see my first and probably last live NHL game this season when they played in Sweden.

Favorite Av moment: Beating STL in game 82 this season and making the playoffs

How and when did you become an Av fan?: I had some money left on a betting site and I figured I'd throw it all away on some live betting. Colorado was playing STL so I bet everything that they would tie the game which they eventually did. Then I bet my winnings that STL would win in OT, but then Landy scored an open netter because Allen rushed out of his net to try to stop a break away. That was the 2015/2016 season. I watched a couple of games that season but started following more closely the following season.

Also Forsberg was my favourite player growing up.

Occupation: I build brands
Favorite TV shows: House MD
Favourite musical artist(s): Wu-Tang Clan, Ghetts, Kano
Favorite Avs: Zadorov
Favorite Ex-Av: Sakic, Ozolinsh, Theodore (just because he was a full right goalie too)
Favorite non-Av: Ilya Bryzgalov, Ryan Reaves & Hammond's wife is hilarious on Twitter
Next or other favorite team: None, really...
How else is hockey in your life?: Played RW from when I was 9 up until I was 18 or something. After a break I joined a beer league team and switched to goalie. I am not very good at all.
Favorite Av moment: Sakic handing the cup to Bourque, Roy's quote in response to Roenick and most reactions to what Sakic pulled off in the Duchene trade.
How and when did you become an Av fan?: Here in Holland, hockey isn't very popular, so I didn't get into hockey until when I was 8 or 9, after seeing Mighty Ducks ("Goldbeeeeeerg!"). My first jersey with name and number I got from my dad was an Avs Starter jersey with Sakic and the "C" of course. That's when my love for the Avs was born.

Favorite Av moment: Joe handing the Cup to Ray
How and when did you become an Avs fan: After I moved to Denver in late 90's. Started watching every game, one thing lead to another, and here I am
How and When Did You Become a hockey fan: Grew up where there was no hockey to play, so I never paid attention to it as a kid. Played Football, Baseball, and Wrestled instead. Wasn't introduced to it until I was in my mid 20's at the USHL level, and have loved it ever since. Wish I could/would have played. :(

Favorite non-Av: McDavid
Next favorite team: Vegas, I guess.
Favorite Av moment: Uwe Krupp's goal in 1996
How and when did you become an Avs fan: At age 7 or 8 I was told that I have to pick a side between the Nordiques and Canadiens. I picked the Nordiques because I liked blue better.

Age: 26
Location: Golden, Colorado
Status: Single
Occupation: Print shop guru
Favoite Music Artist(s): Peter Gabriel, Stone Temple Pilots, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Jellyfish, Metallica
Favorite TV show: Six Feet Under
Favorite Book(s) or Author(s): Rudyard Kipling and "The Jungle Book" will always hold a special place in my heart. Also enjoy Edgar Rice Burroughs, both his Martian adventures and the Tarzan books.
Favorite Av: Karlis Skrastins, Paul Kariya
Favorite Ex-Av: Ray Bourque
Favorite non-Av: Jaroslav Spacek
Next or other favorite team: Boston Bruins, Atlanta Thrashers, Columbus Blue Jackets, New York Rangers. In that order.
How else is hockey in your life?: I grew up playing it, from the time I was 5 until I was 16. Had to give it up after undergoing major back surgery. Coached for a couple years afterward but I just can't stand hockey parents. Someday I'll take to the ice again in some capacity.
Favorite Av moment: There was no more shocking moment to me than when my favorite all-time player, Raymond Jean Bourque, was traded here. My father and all my friends knew how stunned and delighted I'd be and called me up to make sure I knew the news. During the whole trade talk fiasco I was convinced he'd be traded to the dreaded Flyers. Ray actually winning the Cup is a very, very close second...
LEAST favorite Av moment: The firing of Bob Hartley. Though I still feel it was a move Lacroix had to make, and made a great situation for Atlanta, Hartley was a great personality here in the Denver Metro Area, a great coach and a great guy. He deserved better, FAR better than this. I still miss his witty banter on the weekly coach's show on AM950 The Fan.
How and when did you become an Av fan?: Grew up a Bruins fan, mainly b/c of Ray, but when the Avs came here, I of course rooted for them!
Shoots: Right

Next favorite team: Really, really hard to say. Maybe Dallas this year.
Favorite Av moment: Second Stanley Cup (watched the finals live during the night, as the local TV station showed all the games back in those days.)

Name: Mark T
Sex: Male
Favorite Music Artist(s): Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, The White Stripes, Spoon, The Hives. I'm also really into electro swing (eg Caravan Palace) lately.
Favorite TV show: The Wire
Favorite Book(s) or Author(s): The Aubrey-Maturin series by Patrick O'Brian, The Lord of the Rings, The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton
Favorite Avs Player: MacKinnon
Favorite All-Time Ex-Avs Player: Sakic
Favorite Still Playing Ex-Avs Player: O'Reilly
Favorite Non-Avs Player: Carey Price. Used to be Iginla, but...
Next Favorite Team: Montreal
Favorite Avs Moment: I was too young to fully appreciate the cup wins. It used to be (weirdly enough), this game: Ryan O’Reilly lifts Avs to overtime win over Hurricanes – The Denver Post
Now, it's:

How and When Did You Become an Avs Fan: During the 1996 playoffs, both the Habs and Leafs were eliminated in the first round, so everyone in my family picked a new team to cheer for during the rest of the playoffs. I was hooked from that point on, and got an Avs t-shirt for my birthday a couple weeks after they won the cup.
How and When Did You Become a Hockey Fan: I didn't really become a serious hockey fan until around the time of the second cup win. It was really just a gradual process, and didn't become solidified until I started talking about the games with fellow Avs fans online.
Position: I never played as a kid outside of road hockey, but as a completely untrained adult in ball/floor hockey I'm a winger akin to Gabriel Bourque or Brendan Gallagher depending on the level of skill in the league.
Shoots: Right

Occupation: IT management at University of Stockholm

Favourite musical artist(s)
: Massive Attack, Skinny Puppy, The Glitch Mob, Stanton Warriors. The list could go on forever.
Favourite TV shows: The Wire, Breaking Bad, GoT
Favourite books: The Thief of Always, Beasts in Velvet

Favourite Avs
: Gabriel Landeskog
Favourite Ex-Avs: Joe Sakic
Favorite Non-Avs Player: Börje Salming
Next-favourite teams: Djurgårdens IF. It's my club, the one I follow in all sports. I even had tickets to AVS/DIF in Stockholm in 2001. But it was cancelled at the last minute.

How and when did you become an Avs fan
: When Mats Sundin started playing for Quebec. He was the Young star from my club, DIF, who tried to make it in the NHL. Through following Mats in the news, one slowly got to know the whole team and it stuck. When Mats got traded the interest stayed with the team and later followed to Denver. The loss of Sundin was made when they picked up another Swedish prodigy: Forsberg. But the one player in Quebec that really captured me was Sakic.

Favourite Avs moment
: It has to be the cup run in 2001. It was electric. Ray staying for a final attempt and nailing "W"s to his garage, in line with their mantra "16W" that was mentioned at every turn. And Forsberg going out with the spleen and Sakic carrying even more. The dramatics around that run was the perfect storm.

How and When Did You Become a Hockey Fan:
It's one of our two national sports. Growing up, the TV was always on during World Championships and Canada Cups. And it was fun to watch as long as we didn't face the Soviets and their KLM-line. But that was cool too, to see the progression over a decade and to see the gap slowly vanish between us and the top nations at the time.

Favorite Av moment: "And after 22 years, Raymond Bourque!!"
How and when did you become an Av fan? 1998 Nagano Olympics, Joe Sakic. Watching him he became my favourite player, so naturally I started cheering for the team he was on.

New....ok not new. Been in Denver for two years now. Sorry if this is not the right thread...but it's the closest I could find to being appropriate......is there an easy way to wait and get Avs autographs? Living in both Buffalo and Arizona I knew where to wait for playoffs. Is there an easy way here? Or are their events I don't know about? (I have a partial season ticket plan but since it's only a partial I cant go to the full season events.) I dont want to make money off them, just want to add to a collection.

Best way is to go directly to their houses on days off and/or holidays.

Adding on that, I heard that Varlamov and Zadorov both especially like it when someone greets them at their door shouting in an second language for them. They view it as a triumph and totally hope cucks understand the ass-whooping is just part of the exchange.
