Schultz was really solid at one point. He will be good on another team. He's trying to play like Dumo/Letang and it's not his style. Dumo can barely do it successfully.

I honestly don’t get the hate for Pettersson at all. Him and Marino look like a really solid pairing tbh.

Has he been great? No. But has he been as bad as JJ? MF NO.

He get hit way too much which causes problems for all D men IMO.

So... while Dumo and Marino might be important.... I conclude that I must stay away from my native Denmark/have to watch games for the Pens to succeed.
During my recent Corona-refugee hiatus in DK we wen't 0-6-0 and I didn't watch one second of it.

Landed in Shanghai yesterday morning as the game started..... and we are back on track.

Did not see last game but Peterson has looked terrible to me in every game I have seen. JJ is an easy target here. Being paired with Letang is about the worst spot for him. He was just fine earlier before Dumo went down jn a more limited role.

Schultz should've been moved at the deadline. He's been garbage for us for 2+ years.

JJ is what he's always been; a complete liability and someone only capable of being a PK specialist with very limited minutes on the bottom pairing at ES.

Petts might be the worst of the three, especially lately. The guy just looks like he flat-out doesn't belong. Constant mistakes and misreads like you'd see from some AHL-fodder call up who should never see extended NHL action beyond an emergency basis.

Not great, but with Marino and Dumo back, and hopefully Riikola getting a bottom pairing (or middle pairing) spot, things should be alright for the rest of the season until we can figure out a way to solve the issues this summer.

Schultz is still better than Trotman and Ruhwedel.

I was at this one (6-0 on the season) and what a game to be at. I gotta give a + to the crowd for this one. It's easy to be hyped when you score 7 goals but the standing ovation and "Let's Go Pens' chants through the whole final minute was a great touch. I do not expect that from the pre-playoff crowd.

Also, I will never get sick of watching Malkin make magic happen with the puck. His stick handling is so silky smooth when he is on.

The crowd was into it. It's probably the most engaged I have seen it all year. Sometimes you get those games where a larger portion than normal of the good hockey fan comes out. I always judge the crowd by how they react to plays that aren't moments to really cheer...unless you understand the game. The fans were cheering little things that they don't normally cheer when the suits and ties are there.

John Marino is the x-factor of this blueline. Dumoulin runs a close 2nd, just because of how calming he is to Letang. It's actually kind of funny because Letang has the skill you want from a #1 defenseman but Dumoulin has the impact on the lineup that you want. Dumo makes his partner better. Marino has the ability to do the same and the skill to produce decent point totals.

I have given up that Schultz is going to come back to the level he was at. He's a bottom pairing guy. He may flash from here on out, but I just think his injuries have really taken a toll on his game. What a hell of a defenseman during those Cup years though. He redeemed himself from Edmonton, for sure.

I have been to a lot of game this season and I think the biggest thing I take away from Bryan Rust is how much he has watched Jake Guentzel. It's actually uncanny sometimes I think I'm watching Jake. It's the very small things that Jake does on a game to game basis that makes a difference, and they can be hard to pick out over a telecast, but right now Rust is doing those things. I wouldn't be at all shocked if Jake has actually physically helped Rust in terms of learning how to score with Sid and Geno and some tips on how to get open and find those spots because Rust is doing it just like Jake does it.

I think Zucker could see career numbers here next year. That chemistry with Sid is blossoming. If they put Jake with Geno and Rust again, finding the right 3rd wheel for that line would be huge. I personally think that guy is Tanev. It sounds insane, but with Tanev I see a guy with some untapped potential, he has the ability to create turnovers, and he can finish if put in the spot. It's obviously more ideal to find a guy with more skill (I'd give a real hard look at Granlund this offseason), but Tanev and Sid I think would be magical. Sid and Zucker are phenomenal with short one-touches to each other. Having a guy to stir up turnovers and defensemen making bad decisions with pucks, Sid and Zucker would be like sharks in the water.

Tanev has 2 goals and 3 assists in his last 20 games.

Couldn't care less. He wouldn't be on the line to score goals, but I think exchanging Blueger and ZAR for Crosby and Zucker would help Tanev's numbers a bit.

How about we just keep the line together that combined for 6 points last game and see how it goes until next year.

Sheary has 3 goals and 3 assists in his last 20 games.

I've seen Sheary in the top 6 in the playoffs. I think I'm going to hard pass on the sequel.

With the injuries, that line suffered tremendously to generate anything at all. I wouldn’t necessarily blame him.

I think he can be a fine top 6 3rd wheel, but who knows.
