Hornqvist's goal in game 6 vs the Preds is a great encapsulation of what he meant to the team during his time here. Never a pretty player to watch, but a warrior through and through. One of my favorite Pens of the 87/71 era. Dude is a winner and will be missed.

Now time to see what JR does in addition to this move. Matheson looks really good on the 2nd pair with Marino, and Sceviour looks really good on the 4th line with Blueger. Just have to address the bottom pair now.

People getting all excited about how he's going to make our transition game so much better etc etc should keep in mind that his great transition numbers come from zone entries, not exits. He likes to carry the puck into the offensive zone with possession. Our defencemen do not do that in Sullivan's system.

Based on what? Matheson was healthy scratched in the playoffs on a team that isn't exactly brimming with quality defensemen.
