Exactly.

We have playoff warriors like the late great Eric Staal.

No use for smurfs like Caufield.
You’re comparing a RW and a centre.....

who you got Caufield replacing.....I have a player in mind but just wondering who you would yank out?

I think he'll dress for game one. I don't think KK will but CC will be in the lineup. If not...

I'd be shocked if they don't both dress to be honest.

Lots of players we can sit out before either of those 2.

They're both super young - if they play really bad, repeatedly? Sure - maybe sit them a game, if they're not up to par for playoffs. But I can't imagine we don't start with both. Prominent roles for them too.

Well if Caufield and kk(less him)isn't on the ice in the first game i really hop our Habs gets swept and badly then maybe Bergevin and ducharne will both get the boot let the kids learn were not a contender not even close.

Gallagher said otherwise.
Missed this? Gally is now the coach? I know this guy gets a ton of love on this board because he has heart, but I would rather have traded him for a youth movement instead of the injury riddled soon to be 6.5 for a very very long time Vet. Just another new contract for old achievements that MB loves to throw around. I use to love gally, but i am down to meh on him.

Crazy to think how Koivu was our internal salary cap at one time then look at what we are paying on this team. I hope gally plays better than his 2.7% shooting percentage last post season. We need everyone to play at the top of their game. Otherwise play the kids. They need the icetime more than the a pile of players that won't be here next year.

Gally was asked about them being on line 5 yesterday after practice, and he was quoted as saying they need to be ready.
That being said, Dom said no deciions have been set in stone yet, and today is another day............
I would have the two kids in the lineup, KK can bang and crash from the wing if needed, and CC can score goals like we need.
Byron and Armia can sit if DD refuses to Staal........FFS

Ducharme needs to go. Caufield has earned a spot. AINEC!

I apologize for everything I said about Julien. The devil you know was definitely better than the devil you don't know!

No need to apologize.

That Duchsrne is shit has nothing to do with Julien being shit. Two separate issues.

Therrien, Julien, Ducharme. What a track record for hiring coaches.

Agree, but at this point, I take Julien back instantaneously if it were an option.

Still too much mediocrity for me.

Dom officially went lower than Julien in my books with these recent moves with KK, Caufield, and Staal.

But at least there's slight hope he'll change because he's just starting out in th nhl, imo. Julien is too set in his ways to change, imo.

Like everyone else, I would prefer to see Caufield in the first game's lineup... but if he comes in on game 2 or 3.... Is it really such a disaster ? Most coaches will give vets the benefit of the doubt and first go. It maintains locker room harmony. A rookie is less likely to take offence and will be chomping at the bits to get in, but a veteran is likelier to get frustrated by being passed on. Staal had to accept to lift his NTC to come here. It's possible promises were made, or that there is a subtext which implies he'll be given at least some sort of prefential treatment. And MB got those guys exactly for this moment. You have to give guys like Perry, Staal, etc first go at it. The leash should be REALLY short with Staal and perhaps even a guy like Tatar who has shown difficulties in scoring against good teams and naturally, it's even harder in the playoffs.

Also I doubt we will win games 6-5 in the playoffs against Toronto unless Andersen wets the bed big time. A successful game by us against Toronto is one where we will frustrate their big 2, and play a really tight close game. I still think you should make room for Caufield and use him as a 4th liner and PP specialist. But the level of vitriol aimed at Ducharme over something that is not even set in stone for game 1, and certainly not for 2-3 and so on, is kind of par for the course on this forum.

I guess that depends on if we're down two games or up two.

Going into this series though? I think we have a much better chance winning games with him starting. Leafs will be hard enough to beat with a full lineup.

I don't think he will be given a chance if we are 2 games up. No point changing what is working. If we are 2 games down he comes into a disaster with low morale. Its a lose lose situation. It would be better to start the kids and then pull them if they had 2 rotten games. But that would mean given them some rope to at least play a bit more. Muller for all his faults was a better HC than CJ or DD.

Montreal and their head coaches have all been the same the last 30 years.

Play the dinosaurs, and more often than not over utilize local players that wouldn’t crack a roster elsewhere.

Could be the difference in the series.

This is DD though... if things are working, expect line changes for the next game.

KK, while in a slump, has still outproduced Staal in hislast 20 games, and is faster, better defensively and better at the dot.

I'd rather start KK and if Staal has to come in, he has the experience to do so. If KK has to come and feels he needs to be the savior, it is less likely to succeed.

Caufield provides more potential than Perry, Lehkonen, Byron and Armia.

I'm ok with rotating one out each game, including Caufield. Definitely Perry should not play 2 games in two nights.
