Hoping the Jost vs Weegar deal is still ongoing.

FL is cutting salaries and Weegar is a RHD filing for arbitration. It's a position with the Timmins uncertainty, needed more than Toews - LHD.

And what do you suppose is the paralell trade the Avs will make to accomodate Weegar's cap hit?

Just a bad draft in general. For all the hate Jost takes for being a draft bust, the next best forward drafted after Jost was Debrincat at 39th. Their wasn’t a single forward drafted between 10th and 39th that’s had more success than Jost.
.

Wrong Anderson my bad.

If Weegar signs at the $3m that was rumoured last week all it would take would be for Cole to be traded somewhere with $1.25m retention. With that retention Cole's caphit would only be $3m and real salary $1.75m, and I could see some teams interested by that. Like NJ, Detroit, NYR, or Ottawa.

AVs have slightly less than $6M remaining. Weegar and Toews is likely seeking a comparable range within the $3M-$4M per. Worst case is $4M + $4M or approx. $2M needed.

Worst case. Assuming Jost - $900K is not moved, than Cole would be an ideal dump. 1 year remaining with a $4M Cap, but $3M salary. Retain 50% would be enough to free the $2M needed to extend both players and receiving team only paying $1.5M.
