He was such a rat that game. Running around running his mouth and not dropping the gloves. He was afraid to get beat up by Johnston again so he dropped the gloves with Martin and held on for dear life.

Should have been thrown out of the game for making contact with the ref like that. It’s oartly the refs fault though because they let the bs go on.

100% intentional. He did not have to do that, you can also just tell through the refs reaction that he thought there was some intent from McLeod

Ref deserved it because he's a ref, and McLeod's stupidity is nothing new.

The most disappointing one here is Martin for even looking at that moron. I mean, yeah, I guess it's his job, but Martin is at least an NHL player and doesn't owe McLeod the time of day.

If you don't think that's intentional then you must believe Cody McLeod has an IQ of about 50.

I can't see how that isn't a suspension. You can't touch the refs accident or not. It'll be interesting to see what the follow-up to this is.
Yes you can. If accident. Seen linesmen get coldcocked breaking up fights and nothing happens.

The NHL is very serious about abuse towards official ever since "the donut" incident and the walkout by refs over it. It's also in the CBA between refs org and NHL. The refs and linesmen make a report to the NHL after a game. How that report reads will help to determine what punishment if any is handed out by the NHL.

Cold cocking refs/linesmen is simply not allowed in the NHL. Players are expected to maintain control and to listen to officials.

It is if a player is trying to punch another player and they punch a linesman by mistake. Seen it happen with no suspensions.

It depends on how forgiving the officials are. Cold cocking is knocking a person out cold and that has not happened to an official that I can recall. There have been some minor incidents where an official has been shoved or hit while getting in between 2 fighters. It will depend on the officials reports. But, that was a hard enough punch to warrant at least a phone call from DoPS. As well, the punch was thrown while the fight was being broken up. He essentially tried to continue it over the official.

Anyways, Linesman's reaction showed he wasn't too pleased with it.

Uh, wtf?!?

I can’t see a reasonable explanation for this that absolves McLeod of responsibility

Usually there’s a grey area where you could say maybe that’s not what he was trying to do . . . But this looks pretty black and white

And that was when Cody McLeod learned that his left hand cannot phase through solid objects to hit things on the other side of them

Definitely intentional.

If it was an accident he would have immediately said sorry or atleast change facial expressions to a "oops" kind of reaction.

Instead he stays stone face. No ****s given. That's definitely intentional.
