I'm surprised that so many people don't understand how liability insurance with home ownership works.

it's the junior business execs that fill this board.

you see them all come out during Olympic discussions....

Ceci's homeowner policy is not only covering any of his potential negligence, but is also paying to defend him.

Yet we have 14 pages of discussion on how much he'll have to pay.

Common law partners in Ontario don't have right to their spouses property. If she's not entitled to his money in a breakup, why should he be liable now?

Me neither, but apparently that's the law. Suing her, yes, suing him is strange. But that's only my German perspective.

Because it was on his property, and she was likely his common-law wife (even if only referred to as his girlfriend or partner).

That is a crazy story and really is a freak accident. Must have been traumatic for everyone.
