If you get fundamentally effed up by someone who works a menial job, you don't have this kind of option. But she got effed up by someone who was the common-law spouse (or simply "girlfriend") of a millionaire athlete. So you go after what you can get. Anyone in similar circumstances would do the same. Accidental? No doubt. But negligence is a thing...

Another distraction for what is shaping up to be a classic, drama-filled season for the Leafs. Not a huge distraction for the team, but surely for the individual player.

Not to downplay the incident but it is hard for me to be sympathetic when siblings and boyfriends are asking for hundreds of thousands in the claim. I can see an argument for damages if she couldnt work for an extended time and medical related costs but some of the numbers seem very outragious to me

how much is being permanently scarred worth? He's gonna get cleaned out.

Just what we needed. A questionable defenseman now with a giant lawsuit looming over him. That' should be great for his play. Sigh.
