A little premature? That’s four months away. This thing could be wrapped up in a couple months maybe? It’s possible.
No. This has taken on a life of its own now.
What we are starting to see is the culmination of nearly a decade of Social pressure coming to a head.
The real issue for Olympic athletes is preparation. It is very hard for them to train to their peak performance not knowing when the games will be. Unfortunately, that will not be the narrative. The narrative will be concern for the health and welware of athletes and fans. This will then put pressure on the pro sports to shut down. If the pro sports don't shut down, they will face heightened scrutiny and criticism.
By the end of the day today we will see countless articles about the possible cancellation of the remainder of the NHL season in the wake of the COC decision, whether there will be a baseball season etc. There will be calls for the pro leagues to just shut down because this is "bigger than sport."
We all know this will be the narrative regardless of thew real reason for the COC to back out.
