There has been highly contagious virus that sweeps the globe every winter and kills tens of thousands of people in the US each year. And not once has there ever been a campaign telling people to get a vaccine to save OTHER people. For all you know you could have already infected someone with that virus and that person died from pneumonia, all because you were too much of a monster to wear a mask!
BTW, what is the downside... you actually think there is no downside to covering your face with a mask for hours on end?

I mean their masks are off all the time during the game screaming instructions in close proximity to others, it's entirely about optics and nothing more. If anyone gave a damn about the safety aspect, it would be unacceptable and heavily punished to do so over the course of the game. Amazing how many people are still kidding themselves.

I think it is in part to send a good message to viewers at home. Discourages mentalities such as "the fancy coach doesnt have to wear a mask while he does his job, so why should I?"

No one wears a mask anymore besides lunatics in the US. A hockey coach isn't going to sway someone.

It's a form of being obedient to a policy for a risk that is mitigated in other ways already. The mitigation the masks provide to vaxed is negligible. That's why the term applies perfectly.

It's like wearing a helmet in a car, does it help your chance of surviving a crash? Sure. Is it reasonable, absolutely not. We have airbags (i.e. the Vax) doing the job already. Even the CDC says fully vax people don't need to wear masks. So why?

Biden, Queen Elizabeth and some other fossils were gathering for G7 summit with no mask or social distancing. Weird. Coaches and players are all fully Vaxed and still test daily. The masks are 100% pointless and a virtue signal.

The fact you have packed stadiums in the states and only 0.001% of the people are wearing masks is hilarious to me for an airborne virus, especially as masks protect others and not yourself. Theoretically there is massive potential for spread in these areas but in Ontario you can't gather with 5 people.

So if you allow an arena full of fans with no masks and masks protect others, why have 10 of 20,000 people in a building wear masks? To protect the 20,000 who are not?

This is why mask policy has always failed. The data shows that regardless of mask policy the death and ICU totals of locations has no direct correlation.

People don't wear them right. The materials are not held to any manufacturing standard and no third party certification. I saw an old lady wearing a knitted one once for the love of God. Even at the game tonight many fans had masks pulled down more often than not.
