Not a franchise player. PP specialist. Meh defensively. Decent point producer. Am I forgetting something?
Those numbers Appleyard posted are misleading because they didn’t account for the fact that a PP goal/assist only counts for 0.0027 of a 5v5 point.

Typical idiot Flyers fanboy homers. SMH my head.

Go read the Philippe Myers thread. I'm sure you'll find more information there to support this viewpoint.

the only problem is that many of the guys below him have unreal longevity , something we have not seen much of post lockout. its almost impossible to have a long productive career this day in age with where the game is going.

he doesn't havve the peak, of the green, he won't have the longevity of the red, and at this pace he won't have the cups of nieuwendyk. He is gong to have to change one of those.

And here I was told small players get hurt much easier than big players...

Also interesting, 5 of those missed games were from Simmonds accidentally kneeing G in the head in 2011-2012.

He actually only missed 4, then sat out the last game of the season vs the Pens.
And in 2015-16 he sat out the last game of the season vs the Isles.

So a run-down of the games he has missed with injury and why since turning pro in 2008:

2008-09: 5 games, concussion (Perry butt-end, which he was suspended for)
2011-12: 4 games, concussion. (Kneed in head by Simmonds)
2014-15: 1 game, lacerated leg. (Cut by Faulk's skate)
2015-16: 3 games, concussion. (Headshot by Subban)

They have all been fluke bad luck (Simmonds+Faulk) or dirty (Perry+Subban).

But he has hardly ever in his career taken big hits... his anticipation is so good and his agility still so high that no-one ever gets a full piece of him. The other "big" hits I remember him taking (Chara, Hanzal) were dirty/late.

I for one... was hard on Giroux!
He's getting long on the tooth but if he's able to help the team with the production like he put up last year...I'm all in!
He's still our go to guy in the POWER PLAY situations and leads by example...
And the Flyers are still his team!
Very valuable part of our Stanley Cup odyssey

"reasons to be cheerful"....hogwash. He got outplayed by Sid. Bum!
...A nation of players have been outplayed by Sid!
It's just that Giroux is on his downcline...same as when Clarke was on his last legs...they still help the team in other ways!
Claude has had a great career in Philly and these next few years will tell if he retires with a Orange Stanley Cup!

He obviously isn't declining.

Guess you missed last season?

First of all, "downcline" is not a word. Its decline or downside. Second, he just had the best season of his career.
