Imagine if people got what they wanted and he was dumped for a trash return back in 2016 when he had that post-surgery lower scoring season...
I'd rather not. We're talking about literally one of the best to wear orange and black ever. He may not be "elite" at every skill or element, but there's nothing really worth criticism outside the occasional mistake that makes him less than literally perfect.

A legitimate question, could he ever win a Selke, or does not have the reputation to support a wining of a Selke? If he did win and Bergeron did not, there would be a least one HF poster who's head would explode.

Probably not going to happen. Hard enough for wingers, let alone 33 year old wingers whose defensive play is vastly underrated. Also having Coots as a teammate hurts him here.

Too bad. The fallout on these boards if he did win would be hysterical...for some of us.

Its a debat of having respect for an old man, in the eyes of younglings who think because Travic koneckny is a god and is a better complete player than Giroux.

i was very hard on Giroux play last year. But he proved me wrong in this debut of season.
I sign Giroux for 3-4 years around 5 millions per year tommorow.
If he ask 6 millions, i'll exchange him next summer.

With a salary retaint, pretty shure you can grab a decent defensman in return for giroux service too.

Maybe he dont want to stay in phillie? But i think he'll stay for less money. if he's honest with the team, maybe he can try win a stanley cup with the flyers. i think this team got all the elements They need money for couts, farabee.

Good things is you are recupairing 2.5 millions in buyout history for next year. Players choice will me made this next summer after the series. They dont need a giroux contract distraction in this locking room, so if he get agressive over is demands. You know you're f***ed with him in the lineup.

Now his dry spell is over, just remember:

Every year of career he had such a stretch... every player who is not a 35+ goal scorer will have such a streak. It is just maths.

08-09: Stretch of 1 goal in 14 games. ALSO stretch of 1 in 15 games.
09-10: Stretch of 1 goal in 18 games. ALSO stretch of 1 in 18.
10-11: Stretch of 1 goal in 12 games. ALSO stretch of 1 in 10.
11-12: Stretch of 1 goal in 16 games.
12-13: Stretch of 1 goal in 14. And 1 in 13.
13-14: Stretch of 1 goal in 19.
14-15: Stretch of 1 goal in 14.
15-16: Stretch of 1 goal in 13. And 1 in 12.
16-17: Stretch of 1 goal in 18.
17-18: Stretch of 1 goal in 20.
18-19: 2 stretches of 1 goal in 14.
19-20: Stretch of 1 in 14.
20-21: Stretch of 1 in 17.

Look at his three "MVPish" calibre years of 11-12, 13-14 and 17-18... all had such stretches as he had this year.

You may have been able to prevent some serious back and forth bickering if you posted this a bit earlier.
