You mean the team that all-time greats Jack Wilshere and Olivier Giroud carved up last season? Maybe even Walcott, if I'm not mistaken.

Kinda fun. Since the start of last year's CL Firmino has been directly involved in 19 goals (12 goals, 7 assists) which makes him the most productive player in the CL over that span. Bravo Bobby.

Finally got to catch a match as I'm playing catch up on a few of them. Was quite surprised and skeptical of the Rafinha selection, but I have to say he was very good. Of course I've been saying that I'm glad he's in the team so I don't doubt his talent, but I would have expected Dembele to start. Rafinha was all over the place though. In fact the only place he wasn't was out on the right. Excellent in possession and he puts in the work on the other side of the ball too. Dembele wouldn't have been in that position to score either so glad it worked out. I thought Busquets and Pique were also quite good and Lenglet is looking better. Vidal and Munir playing irked me though. Neither should even be at the club much less in the team meanwhile Dembele and Malcolm don't get a minute. Anyway, I'll give my three stars for this one (in no particular order):

    • Arthur: This kid just oozes class. Ridiculously press resistant. WhoScored?, whose rating isn't at all indicative of the performance he put in, says he was dispossed twice. I remember one of them and the player called for a foul on that play. You see player comparisons from time to time and they're out there, but this guy really looks like Xavi. No surprise he's already started more matches than say Rakitic (nothing against Rakitic of course and I can see starting both) or that he looks like he'll be a starter for much of the season. Makes me continue to question Vidal's signing and quite frankly why we're linked with a couple of other midfielders who will remain nameless.
    • Suarez: The guy is an animal. Such a fierce competitor. He doesn't do it in exactly the same way, but much like Eto'o he's a nightmare for opposition CBs. Skriniar (who was essentially scored on in both goals) saw it a bit, but Miranda really had a tough go of it. Like I've been saying, no need to replace him just yet as he's got a lot to offer. And that ball to Rafinha was excellent.
    • Alba: It amazes me how underrated he is. His game is too often chalked up to his pace, yet the timing of his runs or his reading of a play get no mention. Very well rounded performance that was capped off by a well taken goal. Thanks Lucho for memories and thanks for motivating an already World Class LB to push even harder.

Brozovic's move on the Suarez's FK was the highlight of the night for me.

Brozovic was fantastic on the whole. It's just that he was 1v3 in that midfield, Inter really do need to try and find another quality solution there.
With Radja gone, Vecino, Valero and Gagliardini isn't really awe-inspiring.

he's the leading scorer on a side currently level at top of the league and top of their ucl group right now.

yes mo's start was underwhelming but the fact that anyone was splitting hairs before halloween is hilarious to me.

i would gladly have mo's goal total cut in half over last season if it means winning the league or european cup. and yes, one of those two things *can* happen with mo scoring half as much. liverpool are that good. it's glorious.

I was meaning to mention him and even before his goal...the exact word I wanted to use was underrated. His chemistry with Messi is understated, probably the best combination barca has right now.

Also how do we not have a gif of Busquets ruining Martinez career? It was hysterical, Martinez gave up and just pushed him to the grown. LOL

Yep. He's underrated in general in my experience and definitely on this forum. And he and Messi definitely have chemistry. They have for some time and with Neymar's departure and depending on how Valverde lines up the team it's showing up even more.

Busquets did that trademark pull back that he always does at least once too. Arthur had some of those moments as well. At one point he pirouetted a player and when the next challenge came in he did it again.

well when it's PSG who ends up getting relegated to the Europa League from Group C we'll revisit this.

I can't *wait* for the Reds to take on Napoli at Anfield.

Napoli at Anfield is probably the game I'm most nervous about in this group.

For me it was Napoli at San Paolo. By the result, that worry was justified.

After that PSG win to open group play I found it hard it believe they won't collect all nine points at Anfield. The drubbing of Red Star last night (and fair play to RSB, they showed up the first half hour but Liverpool were just too much for them) that could have been like 7-0 re-affirms that.

Yep...still a little shaky in the early going but nice to see him start to find his feet. Now, it was against one of the worst teams we'll play this season but any confidence or indication that he's going to start becoming what he was hyped before coming over is good. Right now the 4-2-3-1 with Shaqiri/Salah/Firmino/Mane playing as a fluid front 4 essentially is a pretty good option against defensive teams as Wijnaldum and Fabinho are great as a double pivot if this form holds.

He does suck however, Mou is brining out the worst in him much like the other attacking players. Im not a fan of his I think he's a stump but under the right system he can pot in goals.
