Yikes, this can't be good...

@CJ_Stevenson: Men's hockey program at University of Ottawa has been suspended pending police investigation of an incident, UOttawa announced.

Press release from the university:

OTTAWA, March 3, 2014 — The University of Ottawa announced today that it has suspended the men's varsity hockey program.

Senior management in the University's Sports Services received information from a third party on Monday, February 24, 2014 regarding an incident involving some members of the men’s hockey team. The information included allegations of serious misconduct. The University reported the incident to the police on Tuesday, February 25. The University has assured the police that it will cooperate fully with whatever investigation they may initiate.

....

The incident occurred several weeks ago. The University is deeply concerned that senior management was only informed about these allegations on February 24, and then by a third party. This will be among the matters examined in the review.

Don't want to speculate what it's about, but you have to imagine that it's a very serious alleged incident.

That would have been the weekend they got knocked out by Queen's, so maybe a post season party gone very, very wrong

The article says the incident happened several weeks ago - so it looks like we can eliminate the possibility of the postseason party gone wrong.

Let's just hope for the sake of the program that this is a little more Ryerson hockey circa 2013, and a little less Waterloo Football circa 2010.

The article now says that the incident happened in Thunder Bay on February 1st.
That weekend, the Gee Gees won both of their games against the Thunderwolves.
I'm assuming they had to stay overnight due to their flight schedule and things got out of hand

Most teams do stay overnight and fly out in the morning. I know with RMC we flew out at 7am and just had a team pizza party and watched HNIC saturday night cause we had to be up at 4:30am

As things stand we have a police investigation and allegations, nothing more. Let the process take its course.

Please no comments or speculation about the alleged victim, the possible players involved or the motives of any and all including the university.

Also no hearsay. Any new information must be supported with links credible sources.
