Recruiting
UNB- 7 OHL, 6 QJHL, 2 WHL, 1 USA. UNB has shifted recruiting from the WHL to the Q in the past couple of years. Since Kevin Dickie left for Acadia, the V-Reds have had little influence from the West. The shift has been to the Q. UNB had as many as 7-8 WHL players when they hosted in 2012. I remember the complaints from Alberta after a lopsided exhibition loss to UNB at Claire Drake Arena, that recruits like Kyle Bailey, Daine Todd, Ben Wright, etc were being lured to UNB. In fact, it was word of mouth from these guys, the players did the recruiting!!
ST FX- 6 OHL, 6 WHL, 3 USA. Strong influence from the Western Hockey League.
Acadia- 7, OHL, 6 WHL. Also heavy recruiting from the WHL.
SMU- OHL-11, WHL-3. Always recruit heavy from the OHL.
So why are Western players choosing Acadia or X?? Is it word of mouth or are they being enticed?? Or is it their wish to go to a competitive environment with a good fan base ?
The pipelineThe Daily Gleaner has announced that Clapperton will be joining UNB. He is expected to play this weekend.
