Some possible candidates:

For Tierney:

Philadelphia
Montreal
Toronto
Edmonton

For Boedker:

Dallas
Buffalo
Arizona

Probably a bunch of other teams. What do you think either one of them could get at the draft?

I wouldn't say no to Tierney, great #2C with a lot of unused potential. it can help but it depends on the price for him.

I think Boedker to Arizona for #74OV is pretty realistic. I really doubt we see him playing for the Sharks next year.

Tierney, I’m not so sure about either way. I don’t know if he’s getting traded or not. If he is, I think the trade could be based on him and a similar defender. (RFA, ~age 23, not a true top-6/4 guy but does well in a more insulated role.) However, I could also see him being the “roster player” in a classic “roster player+prospect+1st” type of trade, which I suspect there is a high chance of DW making at some point between right now and opening day.

I'd be interested in Tierney as an Oiler fan. We need a few more of his caliber - not superstar players, but good, quality role players. Not sure what the rate is for players like him though.

Tierney basically signed for a qualifying offer last year. I dunno, something tells me DW doesn't want to pay him what he's probably worth. With Suomela and Gambrell coming in, I just really feel like he's going to dangle Tierney hard at the draft.

Pavelski/Donskoi/Boedker/Labanc is too many RWers for three lines, and none of them fit a 4th line role. I think one of them is being moved, and Boedker is most likely.

what would be the price asked for him ? what do sharks need apart from a #1 center ?
Realistically, an upgrade on Demelo at RD, but that would mean also moving one of Demelo/Heed.

What the fans probably want is more picks and prospects as well. We have almost no defensive prospects apart from Jeremy Roy who has had like three season ending knee injuries already, and Ferraro who actually looks pretty good.

If that's the case, even though I don't think he'd be a real solution, I'd do Lernout + 61st for Tierney + late pick.

Lernout is a big RD that can skate well for his size and has exceeded all expectations to this point, good enough to play bottom pair right now and didn't look lost when called up last season. Habs are deep on the right side so he's expendable

He'd be a good fit at 3C in Toronto as well, and I've said before I think something around Gardiner+ for Braun and Tierney could work

Mtl has a bunch of young RD. Realistically I'm not sure who is worth Tierney in our RD pool. it's really our only strength.

Lehkonen for Tierney ?
you will be able to do a Finnish line

MY mistake I read RW LOL

edit: Lernout would be my go to for your RD rebuild

Issue with Lernout is he appears to have very limited offensive potential, and he would be paired with Dillon, who also has limited offensive potential.

I don't hate the offer, but I think I would try for one of Montreal's higher 2nd rounders if he's coming back, like #38.

What would it take to get both to Buffalo?

Assuming cap space is the priority for SJ.....

Wouldn't go that high but would give up our 2nd that's in the 50s

Could make a good pair with Roy in the near future if his injuries don't affect him too much

How on earth is Lernout a comparable for Tierney? Tierney is proven to be somebody who can produce and play like a #3C. He scored 40 points this year and has played over 300 NHL games and scored over 100 points at age 23. A comparable player would be a proven NHL defenseman whose production and performance is bordering on a top-4 level but has flaws that might prevent them from truly reaching that level. Not a 22 year old defenseman who has one assist in 18 NHL games and “didn’t look lost” in those games.

Lernout is almost exactly what you described in your bracketed portion lol but I am 100% certain the first you've heard of him is that google search you clearly just did. And I realize Tierney has more value which is why there is a 2nd rounder to bridge the gap.
