I'm halfway through episode 8 on season 3 and have been really enjoying it so far. Surprised to see so many people take issue with it.
I also just finished watching Big Mouth season 2 and the actor that plays Varga is also the Shame Wizard lol.
My main criticism is that some of the characters are WAY too easily persuaded to do things. Emmit changes his mind at the drop of a hat. Sy folds like a cheap tent all of the time. Like really, drinking that tea that was forced upon him...99% of people would have seen the red flags and gotten out of there. It's a bit unrealistic how quickly the characters are manipulated at times.
Varga is the best villain the series has seen. Really excited to see what happens with him in the last few episodes. I think the writers purposefully used him as a conduit to explain the 2016 election, tbh. He is always referencing how truth can be created based on people with authority, which is basically the fake news issue and Russian interference with creating alternate truths during the election. Maybe I'm just reading too far into it, but there are a multiple scenes that reference how the truth can be manipulated and changed.
I am hoping they tie up some loose ends. Like what was the point of the flashback episode on Gloria's stepdad and the sci-fi movie bust? What about the box she finds that closes itself based on the robot novel? And why does Vargo pick his teeth with that metal needle thing and is always vomitting? I'm curious if these have any impact on the storyline in the end.
