Hell of a career and one of the best moves the Sens have made in a long time.

He was well respected by the younger guys while in Boston.

One of the smartest players that we likely ever produced...Because we all know he would never have played in the NHL for so long because of his actual skill..

Meh if you're smart you put up points.

imo Kelly was just super super hard working and super studious. So it's a good fit anyway.

He had hands of stone. Dude had great hockey sense though, was always in the right position. Dude just didn't have the hands or the vision to be a top point producer.

If you could forge out almost a 15 year 800GP+ career as a player that doesn't have offence skills or not very physical, then you must have great understanding of the game and hockey smarts.

Doesn't explain his limited offensive vision. If you're smart at the game of hockey you have that vision.

This is how you turn a franchise around and create a winning culture. You bring in proven winners with good character and surround your young talent with them. Enough of the millennial infighting. Put some adults in the room.

Some of these kids need more than just a time out

He had no god given tallent, yet he had a 800 game career...Dude is plenty hockey smart
Oh he had hockey sense, like you said, one of the few tools he used to carve out his 800 NHL career. To say that he was one of the smartest we've ever produced, well that would be false.

Kelley didnt have the skill, smarts he had in spades

Yep.

Some players have incredible hockey minds, but their bodies just can't catch up to how quickly they process the game. It's actual physical limitation at that point, not mental ones.

Kelly didn't have limited vision. He had cement blocks for hands, and played in such a way that best sheltered that fact.

I liked Kelly as a player in his pre-Boston days. He's a bottom 6er , not skilled but he's a competitor and a leader. He is a smart defensive/positional player.
I am just happy the Sens are adding to their player development department. I'd like to see them add a skills dev coach as well.
