All eagerly showing up to watch William Nylander no doubt. I can sense the great disappointment already when they watch how uselessly invisible he is.

Maybe a day depth player for either team?
I could see Ennis, brown potential buy low options with some reward. Idk doubt marincin is dressing otherwise he could be an option.
Outside chance of show casing marleau or gardiner. That's from the leafs side anyways.

Maatta and Sprong are good guesses for who these teams may be looking at.

Probably to watch additional players for a Nylander deal? I'm not really sure because the Rangers don't have the opportunity to get destroyed by Toronto until 12/22 and Pittsburgh until 1/2/19.

    Probably not.

One team has a clear need to replace a player, see Schultz, Justin.

Canes may be looking at what GMJR potentially has on the table for Faulk...my best guess...

I don't get how the Rangers are involved then. They can't afford to and shouldn't be moving any defenders, unless it's Marc Staal.

Why? They are tanking. If anything they have started the seasons too well and must find a way to suck more to compete with EDM, Ari and Det for Hughes.

Shatty to Toronto makes too much sense. Sure if they can get a top tier RD that is of course what you go for. But they aren’t that easy to get. Shatty can log 2nd-3rd pairing minutes 5 on 5 at an OK rate and be a top PP guy (what top 10 in the league?), only 29 y/o and if NYR retains — which they can do — his contract would be very good. 3.3m per for 3 years at 50%.

There should be a couple of more teams interested in Shatty at that rate. LAK? PHI? NYI? NYR should get the Hammonic return...

Maybe they are just scouting the Leafs in case they make someone available after Nylander signs.

Must be the Pens, Leafs wouldn't have much interest.

I'm not sure why EDM is included in this, they are 2-2 at the moment

Bet it's just standard pro scouting, and Johnston just wants the clicks.

Maybe because they don't have a non-mcdavid regulation goal through 4 games?

A lot of scouts live in Toronto. I remember a report of a particular team having two scouts at a game in another city, and one of the scouts was a friend of a friend of mine, and it was just that he wanted to see a particular player, and invited another scout who lived nearby to come along. But it caused a huge twitter storm. I'd it's mostly just guys who live here who wouldn't mind seeing Sid and Malkin live.

If they send a good defender to the leafs they need a lesser one in return.
