Wow Black is killing it this season. I honestly know nothing about his game, but he's 8th in the WHL in scoring so that's definitely a good sign.

I like Severson a lot, but he's third in defenseman scoring on his team (or was third, now second). The numbers are a bit inflated.

2nd behind Madison Bowey. 1 less point with 2 less games

plus Bowey is also a stud and Kelowna is well known for defensive player output

id kill to acquire Bowey but our D is logjammed enough

Nick Merkley, a 16 year old defenseman, is one point behind and Riley Stadel, a 17 year old defenseman, is four points behind.

Just saying that I would be somewhat suspect of Severson being an elite offensive defenseman in the WHL when there are three other guys on his team putting up similar numbers from the backend.

A little disappointed in Myles Bell this year. He should be dominating the WHL, leading the league in scoring.

True, but Severson put up comparable numbers last year too and was far and away the best offensive defenseman on Kelowna.

severson projects much more like a defensive player than offensive imo. i suspect he'll be closer to larsson than gelinas in terms of offensive output at this level, which is fine. we've got gelinas, merrill, and maybe scarlett to provide offense in the future.

i'm actually quite excited about scarlett. he's an afterthought compared to the other guys we've got, but when one or two of them are inevitably traded, we'll be happy we've got this guy. he reminds me of paul postma, who put up similar numbers at the same age and during his first ahl season. postma was starting to be an nhl regular before he got a blood clot in his leg this year. i think both will grow into pretty solid 3rd pairing d-men that can be used on the power play.

Got to see Santini for the first time tonight. Dude is a plus skater, especially for someone his size. Pretty solid in his own zone. He's a little sketchy in the offensive zone, but certainly not a total incompetent. In some ways he reminds me of a better skating Volchenkov. It'll be fun to see him (potentially) transform into an NHLer.

It helps that he wore 7, but the first thing I thought of when I got to see Severson was 'Paul Martin' with a tad more snarl. I think that's right where his upside should be.
