Chicago is a phenomenal city to live in for the wealthy especially, and most of what I've heard and read is that players of all leagues love coming here (aside from during blizzards). The issue is solely with organizational incompetence.

Think of them as the Knicks-lite. The fact that they can't build a contender despite living in an attractive city is indicative of a bad organizational rep. A lot of the talk is that there was a load of animosity from players that grew up in the 90's that felt like the team prematurely broke up the Jordan-era for quite a long time after that, even as late as the late 2000's, but the Bulls haven't really done anything recently to elicit positive impressions since then either.

GarPax + Boylen = no confidence in the future and no fun in the present.

I think that the top players are rightfully more and more concerned with teams management when picking a destination and it's what's holding the Bulls back. You saw it this off season with guys choosing Brooklyn over Knicks and Clippers over Lakers. They chose trust and confidence in the front office over the history or market of the bigger team.

Going back to the OP, the only negative about Chicago is the winter weather, but it's not all that different than New York. Chicago is a great place to live, especially for someone with a lot of money.

GarPax must have compromising photos of Reinsdorf. There is no other explanation to how they have remained in power for so long. Its not even like they have a championship they can hang on to in order to keep their jobs.

Reinsdorf is just a kind of guy that basically falls in love with some people and they're set for life. He probably just likes drinking with them and doesn't want to make that awkward.

The Bulls have been living off the 90’s for about 20 years now, even tho there was a short hope in the late 2000’s/early 2010’s...nothing came about.

Bulls need to get it together and it all starts at the top, front office incompetence

They're developing Oilers syndrome where all they've done is reminisce of a dynasty that occurred decades ago when they still had the GOATs

I've often thought that they still continue to live off of the 90's. The Bulls fans that come to the games in Charlotte often wear Jordan/Pippen/Rodman jerseys, even during the Rose years they were doing this.

Aside from that two year stretch of MVP Derrick Rose, they've been meh at best. Oilers syndrome is a good definition.

To be fair on the Bulls, and they've brought a lot of this upon themselves, but if Rose doesn't go down, we're not having this conversation.

Of course, there's some room for blame on the Bulls (or at least the coaching at the time) for that happening, but they were going places with Rose.

It's hard to turn it around in the NBA without that elite level talent leading the charge. They got one of those, and then he broke. They only come round so often and you need to be lucky to be in the position to get one.

That only covers a small period of time in the post Jordan era of course, but they were definitely about to get back on track.

Well, to be fair, to bring up a same town comparison, at least half of Bears organization and fandom is all about '85 and that's it, and I'm probably rounding down significantly, so at least the Bulls golden age is six rings versus one.

But agree wholeheartedly regarding how the franchise views itself. That the Bulls fanbase essentially always top two in attendance through thick or thin since then is still impressive, though.

GarPax + Legacy of breakup

Remember the nonsense pushed by MJ and his supporters framing Jerry as bad guy for not wilting to MJ's demands for ownership stake and management control (Essentially wanted Krause gone and MJ picked successor)

Jerry smartly stood up against demands of MJ and spared the Bulls from the fiasco that is MJ as owner but in process the Bulls unfairly have paid price with legacy that MJ was somehow victim
