It is no secret the Chicago Blackhawks are not exactly stacked with young players in the juniors. In fact, with Ryan Hartman having turned pro with the Rockford IceHogs this season, the Hawks do not have a single prospect playing in the CHL.

Despite this, however, Chicago is not completely lacking at the junior level. The 2014 NHL Draft saw general manager Stan Bowman select four forwards competing in the juniors this year. I read the article... Okay all our junior guys seem to have graduated to the AHL this past year....at least our high endpicks.

The players in juniors have been late round picks....so kuddos to the scouting team having honorable mentions in the late rounds. The article is a little presumptuous making it sound like where are all of our 1st, 2nd and 3rd round picks......the truth is mostly promoted, college, or Europe.

I think organizationally Stan had great balance bringing up talent in Sweden, Finland and college. In the past we used juniors, but for whatever reasons the players are in other organizations outside juniors. The article gives a first impression of something is missing, but after reading it ....it's kinda like whatever. Big deal we're lacking guys in the CHL...they're promoted to the AHL.

McNeill looks like a cancer patient in that picture.

He's got that goon it up grin... I hope Stan finds a trading partner for Bickell in the next month or so...it would be nice to see McNeill play 30-40 games with the Hawks this year.

Bowman touched on this a bit after the last draft where he said that don't specifically select/non-select players from a certain league, one downside to the CHL is you have to sign the players after two years or you lose their rights while with the NCAA and Euro leagues you have four years.
