As a Red Wings Fan, Holland would probably trade much less. So Hall/Eberle would likely still be around. Not sure if that team would be better

Holland would probably have to deal either one of them because of the 6 year $20M full NMC contracts he would give to Kassian and Letestu.

Holland has made some stupid decisions, but he's nowhere near Chiarelli's level of stupid and has also had way more success.

Basically would you rather have a dummy that overpays mediocre players or a dummy that trades away superstars for crap.

Would take a chance on a hfboards poster over Chiarelli

So basically John Chayka

Neither GM has never been thru a full re-build but Holland always hired the right scouts and the right people to keep his team in the playoffs. He was a once in a lifetime save from Fleury away from back to back cups. 97/98 were pretty much built by Devellano (with help from Holland) but his work in the 2000's was great.

By wasting McDavid's ELC years, Chia has really hurt the reputation he built in Boston.

Its funny seeing Oilers fans hate on him after praising him like a God a year ago.

Holland deserves to be given a chance to rebuild.

Did he hold out too long?

Maybe the wings should have rebuilt probably a decade ago.

Saying hes the worst gm in hockey?

Sorry no he's not and far from it.

He's a hall of fame builder and kept his team in the playoffs for years.

The Red Wings should have rebuilt in 2008 when they were the presidents trophy winners and stanley cup champions?

I feel like Holland doesn't get nearly enough hate. He's been coasting on the absurd 90s draft steals of Lidstrom, Datsyuk and Zetterberg for years, which has finally fizzled out. He's been responsible for some of the worst signings in recent memory.

Pretty much. Maybe he was holding on because of ilitch. Yeah he overpays, no one is defending that. Id be curious to see how he does rebuilding a team. (Hopefully not the red wings though lol)

I don't see Holland as that bad of a GM. He's not a great one, but he's not bad. Detroit was overdue for a rebuild -- I don't think you can pin all of their failures this year on their GM.

Chiarelli on the other hand....

Ken Holland is an absolute moron and very few GMs in the NHL are worse than him.

Peter Chiarelli is one of those.

This is like comparing somebody who struggles in school to a mentally disabled gerbil in terms of intelligence. Ken Holland may have poor grades across the board, but Chiarelli fails those same categories spectacularly.
