What the bleep was Nicholson talking about with season ticket holders, effort and losing 3-2? I think he was just blurting stuff out.

Haha, so true. They have the transcript up on NHL.com and it reads great.

A: We're doing surveys every day with our season ticket holders. We're getting feedback. Give us an effort. If you give us an effort, give us 100 percent, we can lose 3-2 and that's what we have to do in this city. You know we have the best fans. Our best fans in the League are frustrated right now. We have to get inside the room, no matter what the talent in, we have to have a better effort day in and day out. And that's what our goal is going to be going forward. That's what we have to get fixed here in the next 10 days as we get into a playoff run.

The players should be pissed at Nicholson for blaming the character in the room for the teams record. You got players playing way above where they should be because the organization traded away most of its skill, 25% of the cap is bad, unmovable contracts. The last people we need to blame are the players and the coaching staff. Two very good coaches with an excellent staff of assistants couldn't get this team to be barely over a .500 team.

Connor just got introduced for the All-star media event.

He cut his hair-lol.

Obviously wasn't cutting it until Chiarelli was fired :sarcasm:

I heard it, then listened again. Then I read it a few times.

I still can't make heads or tails of it.

Connor just blew off a reporter's question about the change. Said he'd comment on it after the weekend and he wanted to enjoy the weekend and festivities.

How awful that Connor and Leon have to deal with this trainwreck just at the one moment they should be enjoying a bit of a break. Really, the best thing for the team would be if both opted out of the All Star Game and just stayed home to rest and reflect. They could also avoid the media for five days or so.

The Oilers just never cease to amaze with timing. Let us never forget Ryan Smyth during Messier's jersey retirement night....

I think what he was trying to say is it's okay to lose as long as you give 100% effort.

That's fine in a tournament atmosphere that Nicholson is most experienced with. You should be able to expect a group to put a full effort for a 2-3 week tournament, especially playing for their country. An 82 game season though? Every team has swings, bad periods, mediocre periods, almost every team gets some great periods too. Individual are the same with ups and downs through the year. The good teams though have the better players that get it together more often and have more useful good periods. We simply can't compete with the majority of teams in that respect over a 6+ month season.

A lot of what Nicholson said sounds like a guy that thinks an NHL season is like a tournament. How he thinks because the team played good for a couple weeks 2 months ago means they should be able to do that consistently every night all season. He saw it! He saw them play really good!! Just gotta hit the right character and culture trigger points to make that happen every night! No, sorry Nicholson, doesn't work that way.
