Wasn't chaput the guy Desjardins overplayed the crap out of 2 years ago?

Anyways AHLer for AHLer

Not that was the other AHL free agent, Jayson Megna. Chaput got in a lot of NHL games that year too, but was used more appropriately on the 4th line and was more than serviceable.

Anyway seeing some of the comments on here and reading between the lines sounds like Chaput probably wasn't interested in going back to Utica where they've been short on center's for a few years now, so we're swapping for a C that may be a bit weaker but is a year younger and can play down there. It's a nothing deal for Chicago so they just take the Chaput contract back and let him walk.

Why are Hawks taking ~100k more in cap hit? They need to shed so they are good when they sign Tavares in July

Not exactly a big deal, but recent news that Chicago may not even qualify Chaput.

Interesting.I guess it was just a contract dump or giving a player a fresh start for CHI.Wonder why they didn’t just trade him for future considerations if they had no interest in Shampoo.

Actually with BWC here. I think he could be a good depth player. I think he would benefit from a shift to the wing, personally. He’s got some good speed.
I have never really been impressed with kero. he's a good, decent player. I think he has already reached his potential and there is not much growth left . I agree he is a 4th line center.

Chicago seems to be suspiciously clearing a lot of contracts off the books in the past few days, both with not QO'ing guys but also not extending some of their UFAs

Will be interesting to see who they plug the holes in the roster with via FA

To be a nhl fourth line center you have to be some sort of specialist. He’s okay defensively but not good enough to be lynchpin of a penalty kill not is a monster on the forecheck or dot like a Kruger/mcclement and absolutely useless offensively. He’s fast but that’s it. He’s a good AHL third liner at this point
