Hawks got fleeced. Taking a contract as bad as Connolly's in these conditions should net you a better prospect than Borgstrom or at least a 2nd round pick in addition to him.

Bill Zito quietly doing a good job cleaning up Tallon's mess. Dumped the Matheson deal and now Connolly. Bobrovsky won't be easy.

We've come to terms with Bob not going anywhere lol. At least he's been playing well lately.

So many pieces for such a minor deal. Wallmark is bad this season, Stillman and Carlsson are both low upside defenders, a meaningless pick.

It’s basically Florida clearing cap for Borgstrom who clearly is out of their plans. Good deal.

For Chicago, I guess you take 2+ years of BC’s contract for a shot at something with Borgstrom? Don’t love it...Borgstrom has shown nothing as a pro in North America, I think he’s going to have a long career in Europe.

Wasn't Borgstrom a 1st not too long ago, I'm assuming he's getting closer to bust territory? If not good for Chicago.

Everyone who doesn't score 50 goals right after being drafted is a bust based on HFboards.

Change of scenery will be good for him. Borgström has been great in Liiga this season and I expect him to go back to North America for next season. Might need some time in AHL.

Basically Borgstrom and 7th for cap space.

Connolly is done.
Riley Stillman and Lucas Carlsson probably a wash.
Wallmark not worth much.

Borgstrom seems like a low price for getting rid of the Connolly contract.

I actually like this deal for both teams. I still think Borgstrom projects to play for the Hawks, as will Connolly.

Florida opens up some nice cap space as well and Zito gives himself some flexibility moving forward.

Good trade, IMO.

It is 5 years after his draft and he went back to Liiga, I'm assuming he could have made the Panthers if he played better.

That is a shockingly cheap price to get out of Connolly's deal. Well done Florida. I guess Chicago thinks Borgstrom might still become an NHLer?
Borg is worth a late second and Stillman something like a 3rd or 4th so not so cheap.
Connolly has potential on Chicago

Panthers clearing room to make a run at Taylor Hall?

They certainly are clearing room for some sort of move. Whether that is Hall, or defense (both), I'm not sure. One thing that has to be a certainty, this is only step one of multiple steps.

Nobody was going to pay a 2nd straight up for Borg, he’s a project prospect at this point. Not saying he has zero value but it’s a small price to pay for cap flexibility. Carlsson for Stillman is a wash. Neither is going to be anything special.

This was a no-brainer move for Florida who cleared space for parts they weren’t using.

Borg is a high upside guy. That’s worth something.
