Seems like he's very likely leaving money on the table, especially if he has another 40+ goal season.

Great deal for the Hawks but I don't know what DeBrincat's rationale was signing now.

I take it you don't watch Chicago much because they rarely play together. They've tried it and it doesn't work for some reason. DeBrincat and Strome play together and the third piece has been a rotating cast of depth guys...DeBrincat drives his own production. He put up 28 goals as a rookie playing 14 min a game with 4th line trash.

DeBrincats most common 5on5 linemates during his rookie season were Toews and Sharp. TIL Toews is 4th line trash

Keep in mind that was 36 year-old washed-up Sharp, not the 30 goal scorer and two-way player in his prime.
I believe he had 10 goals all season and finished like -20.

Arty is that you? So a pick that is sent to Florida, Guddy and makes it's way to the Hawks, makes it somehow mean that we lost out on Cat? Because for sure Benning would have taken him right? Benning traded a 2nd, who that pick is or were it ends up has zero to do with Benning.

If Benning was actually a "draft guru" like his supporters think he is, yes he would have taken Debrincat.

Because if he isn't good at drafting, then what the hell is he good at? 'Cause it's surely not trading or UFA signings.

The overarching issue here is that draft picks matter, even non 1st round picks, and Benning threw way too many of them away for a rebuilding team because he was looking for quick fixes. Baertschi was the only "draft pick for age-gap" trade that worked out... or so we thought.

After Toews, it's Schmaltz not Bouma. Schmaltz another 4th liner?

Mate you really trying to correct fans who actually watched the team that season on who Cat played with while not watching? Point of the matter DeBrincat spent a large chunk of the 18 season opening up with Bouma and a Patrick Sharp that was already done as a player.

It was anismov and sharp.

If he was playing so much with bouman you think- who was playing center then?

Bouma wasn't even in his top 10 of linemates played with- he was near the bottom.
DeBrincat CHI 1718
And when you look at bouma it was limited he ever played with Cat.
Bouma CHI 1718

But 2-4 games and he played 2-3 games with Kane too because sometimes you move around to get a jam guy with skill when you have no options.

Cat had 1 game around like game 17 with Bouma and Wingles and a few fans carry the torch here and blow it up in their memories like he was playing with them so much and almost ruined by terrible linemates though its preposterous.

He spent a large chunk of the season starting out with Bouma and Sharp
Without much power play time and not being on the top unit. Again nothing people would know without watching the games. Debrincat basically had most of his rookie season production when given top six linemates and ice time in half a season
