Nope, wouldn't surprise me if this whole thing got Carolina and Charlotte talking a bit again about the while thing. Also wouldn't be shocked if something is announced shortly with the cancellation of the rest of the AHL season

Probably too much to hope for, but this has crossed my mind. At the end of the day it's in both organizations' best interests to make this work. It would be very Dundon-like to go 90% of the way with another team as a way of forcing the issue.

So back on April 29th, Luke said it could be announced in a week. Has anything official been announced re: the Canes switching to Chicago?
I was literally just about to come in this thread and ask if anyone had heard anything...seemed like there was a lot of talk that we'd here something for sure on/after May 8 and I hadn't heard anything myself yet, sounds like they haven't made a peep

It's what happened with Waddell. They were making it sound like he was already hailing a cab to wherever, then out of the blue they got a contract done.

f***.

The only good news is that no one will be attending any games next season but still, it would be nice to have their name in this market.

After things get back to normal though, yeah they'd better use that "leaving the door open" opportunity to full advantage.

Thinking about the prospects that we will have in the AHL.

Bean (maybe)
Keane (maybe)
Bokk
Sellgren
D. Cotton
J. Cotton (is he really a prospect?)
Mattheos
Ned (maybe)

not a ton of folks with a bunch of maybes.

Not a really bad situation if Chicago is the choice for a year.

The following year our AHL squad gets a lot more crowded with all of last season’s draftees, Drury, and other Europeans coming over either from this upcoming draft or prior ones.

They'll be pretty stacked on the back end for an AHL team, even assuming that one of the guys is on the Canes roster next season:

Bean, Keane, Forsling, McKeown, Sellgren... possibly bring Kaski back as well.

Up front they could be in a transition year though, especially as I see either Geekie or Bokk getting the open spot in Carolina unless Williams comes back. But yeah, I see us bringing in a couple quad A types as is next season, especially as Suzuki and Rees aren't yet eligible for the AHL. I'd still like to see us sign Filipe and Henman, and being that Zimmer would only require a 2 year ELC I wouldn't mind throwing one his way either, even though I don't think much of him as a prospect anymore at this point.

I doubt all 3 of Kaski, McKeown, and Forsling come back. McKeown will probably ask to not be tendered so he can go elsewhere to have a chance. McKeown isn’t a prospect anymore.

Kaski has more of a chance to come back but he may pull a Maenalenan if not given a roster guarantee. Not really a prospect in my sense.

Forsling is iffy because Sellgren is coming. If Bean is in Raleigh, there could be space for both. How long does Forsling stick around before going back to Sweden? Either way he is on the cusp of no longer being a prospect.

Kaski is entirely dependent on him. He has options. I could see him taking the same route Saku did and making more in the KHL than he would make in the A. That's why he's a possibly for me.

Can't see us non-tendering McKeown, though I could see us doing for him what we did for Carrick last season which is qualify him and then find a way to trade him out to another team that has better opportunities at the position.

Forsling I think sticks around one more year.

TB seems to be a good partner for McKeown. They have a few forward prospects that are older and may be cool parting with. I’d love the undrafted Boulet but that ain’t happening. Probably Colton Ross.

I wonder if this was really a big game of chicken that the ownership of both sides felt got decided for them with this pandemic. Neither blinked but neither really had to if it ends up the season doesn't happen anyway

I just don't get why they can't get their shit together for the good of both of them. Both sides are going to get screwed in the long run not making ends meet.

But it's their call and all I can do is whine and complain and spew off takes on this board about how idiotic I think this is, they won't listen to me.

We’re over 40 pages. Time for a wolves thread?

You go to hell and you die. Long live the Checkers! 2020 is hard enough, why do we have to deal with this now.

edit1: removing unnecessary parentheses
edit2: making edits really small text
edit3: removed typographical error from edit1
edit4: forgot to add edit3 documentation, renamed first edit to edit 1 (originally named just 'edit')
