HUGE win for the Hornets against a the Suns, a top western team, on the road today. Down 17 early in the 2nd quarter, came back from that and wound up winning a close one despite some questionable reffing. LaMelo started out slow but was clutch down the stretch, Booker was mired by foul trouble for much of the night which was key to the victory. The East is so weak that even with a losing record the Hornets are tied for the 6th seed (.01% behind the 5th seed and only a half game out of the 4th seed). Celtics struggling big time lately and have actually dropped below the Hornets in the standings despite having 2 All-Stars (I'm LOVING it as a Hornets/Canes/Panthers fan living in the Boston area).
Still a long way to go before this team is a title contender, but at the very least they are extremely fun to watch this year, while being very young and will likely make the playoffs this year. May be a quick out in the first round but playoff experience is playoff experience and Kupchak has the team heading in the right direction. Depending on how the Panthers do in the draft/free agency (especially at QB), things are looking very bright for pro sports in the Carolinas with the Canes obviously leading the way with their recent success and bright future.
