Reinhart's goal
first 10 minutes
Rodrigues continues to produce
Okposo with a needed goal

B:
Jack on goal 4
Scandella on goal 4
Every on-ice player on goal 3
Pilut/Risto on goal 2
Dahlin's finish ability. Love him, to death, but he gets a lot of prime looks, and his shot's accuracy needs work. It could've been the difference in quite a few games.

U:
Last 10 seconds. I know Gaustad used to do it, but falling on the puck in a corner is so lame.
The lack of hooking calls. Vancouver hooked SOOOOOO much

Actually liked writing this after a night's sleep. No pure emotional reaction.

We had our chances this game, we just had 1 more breakdown than they did.

1st line production, yes Sam got a goal which was awesome but it really feels like if the goalie isn't hard carrying, that the 1st line needs to account for at least 2 goals a night.

U:
Waiting until the next morning to start a GBU thread, come on guys.

Sabres controlled a good portion of play, but had way too many defensive breakdowns, and it cost them the game. This is becoming a trend. It doesnt matter what the stats say- if you turn the puck over the way the Sabres did you're going to lose more games than you win.

Just watched the recap so this is a limited observation......

Kudo's to Erod for the offense but it looked like the same group of fwds and D were on the ice for Vancouver's 1st 2 goals.

Liked it when Girgs-Larsson-Okposo turned their forecheck into a goal.

Dahlin looked good. Hope the kid learns how to finish though....

Pilut......... blind backhand passes through the middle of the ice in your own zone are not excusable. He's got to stop doing dumb things like that else he'll get demoted.

Reinhart appeared to being playing tough in front of Canucks net. Nice goal too.

Sabres outshot Vancouver by a decent margin but went 0/2 on the power play.
I don't think Ullmark was the problem. Looked like his D mainly was.

But Ullmark did have an opportunity to cement himself as the starting goaltender and wasn't able to take advantage of it.

It's a game and road trip that the Sabres needed to get at least 3 points out of but didn't. Remember this one if they miss the playoffs by a sliver.

I echo the sentiments expressed by the poster above me re Ullmark - I don't think he has been the problem, but in his opportunity to grab the reigns he's allowed 9 goals in his last 7 periods of play, and 14 in his last 11.

Some vets just looked terrible last night. Pominville on 2 GA (deflection in GA1 him standing around on the Baertschi goal) and Scandella on the GWGA... they need more out of them than that.

G: 10 day break

B: Scandella (time for press box), Pilut (let him play in the ahl all star game), Goaltending is now bottom third of the league and cannot carry games, cannot hold a lead.

Time to see what's in the cabinet in Rochester ? Perhaps Bots can make a deal as well.

our combined goaltending has fallen off a cliff.
The goaltending we need is all star level to cover for the non existing coverage in or own zone, the abysmal powerplay and lack of scoring in general.

More than just the GAs, there were so many pucks in the offensive zone that if anyone other than 17/29/21 were racing for them, they would have gotten there with space and been able to make an offensive play. Whereas with those three, they lose the race and Vancouver transitions and gets a scoring chance because we have 3 slow forwards caught down low. This pattern has repeated itself for the last four years on Sabres teams. I appreciate the vets for the effort they put in. But until we start replacing guys that make these plays you simply can't count or see on charts, but whose consequences show up in the form of low-event, losing hockey, we won't be winning hockey games consistently.

Reinharts goal was filthy.

Scandella should be scratched. He has been absolutely awful all year. He is literally playing off a team with a bad defense.

Some players played well, others did not. If we are going to stack a line then they better do a better job out there. if not, balance the lines?

CJ Smith gets another callup after break even if you have to waive someone, maybe give Borgen a look-see.

D, GT, PP needs work in film room.

No he’s not, he’s out there being terrible every night. It’d take a coach with some backbone for him to actually play his way off.
