The problem with the CHL is that European hockey-fans follow the leagues in their own countries and some may be interested in the NHL but it is rare for them to follow other European leagues. Therefore your favourite teams play againt teams you know really nothing about and they are not interesting teams either.

So in other words the whole concept of the tournament is completely lost on you.

Not sure what to think of the fact that Kärpät's head coach Manner just said during a break to his guys that "it doesn't matter who wins, only attitude and style matters"...So does this thing mean anything to them or not?

Congrats Nurnberg! Deserved win! Karpat typical finns. They lost after a 2 dominant periods. In the 3rd period they lost their winner mentality. This isn t new in finnish hockey.

Växjö already started filling the FWs. Sooner than I thought. ...Juntilla 1st one in....shame we're already out from the tournament but atleast it raised some red flags for the coming SHL

Really awesome last couple of days of group play. Only Group F is decided at this point, as Karpat's win over Mountfield assure that Karpat and Nurnberg will go through to the knockout stage. In every other group, at least second place is still up for grabs. Gonna be some really exciting games.

Munich score with less than a second left in the game to beat Malmo 3-2. The win gives Red Bull a three point lead over the Red Hawks with one game left. The two play each other in the last game of group play to determine, not just the winner of the group, but potentially second place as well.

Wow, Bolzano hada. 4-0 lead over Tychy in the second, and it's now 4-3 with 90 seconds left in the middle frame. Bolzano really need this win to advance to the next round.

Storhamar makes it to the next round after somehow whooping Trinec 6-2 with a little help from Tappara. Probably the biggest surprise this year. Not an easy group by any means either.

Ya, and obviously if Bolzano holds on, that would be a huge surprise as well. Skelleftea, dogs that they are, didn't do the Bulls any favours tonight, blowing a 2 goal third period lead to IFK and losing in OT 4-3. Now Bolzano has to win this game to advance.

Bolzano might be pulling the choke job to end all choke jobs. They've now blown the four goal lead, and are now tied with Tychy with 17 minutes to play in regulation.

If Rouen hold onto their lead against Nurnberg, they would also go through. I would consider that an even bigger surprise than Storhamar, although Storhamar's group was the tougher of the two.

PS. Bolzano have scored twice to take a 6-4 lead over Tychy with 9 minutes to play in regulation.

Shame about Rouen, they would have been the first French team to advance to playoffs in history.

They beat Nurnberg and did advance. Bolzano also held on to beat Tychy 6-4, and will advance.

There's no doubt the competitive balance is improving. Only 3 of the 5 Swedish teams advanced, and only 2 of the 5 Finnish teams advanced. Meanwhile two EBEL teams will advance, as well as a Norwegian team and a French team. The group winners are:

Group A: Frolunda and Zurich
Group B: Malmo and Munich
Group C: Skelleftea and Bolzano
Group D: Zug and Kometa Brno
Group E: Tappara and Storhamar
Group F: Karpat and Rouen
Group G: Bern and Salzburg
Group H: Plzen and Lugano

My bad, I checked the score carelessly. Good news then, also happy to see Bolzano advance as the first Italian team.
