Bennett is what he is, an aight 3rd liner, a player who can score some points with a sprinkle of gumption and pugnacity. 12 points in 50 games does not net you much though and he seems to only show said pugnacity and gumption in the playoffs. Connolly would be a great piece to acquire to improve their roster, a complete no brainer imo.

We need more Bennett's not less. If he were an Oiler you'd be singing a very different tune in this thread.

Oh, did you not need a #3 defender? My bad.

Flames fans haven't been crapping on FLA assets in this thread. They've just been saying they prefer a higher end RW than Connolly. A few even praised the fact that OP's value is relatively reasonable.

Not crapping on Weegar, but why are you proposing Hall for Larsson 2.0?

to CGY: Connolly, Borgstrom
to FLA: Bennett

The Flames need a scoring RW, and Connolly can pot ~20 goals for a reasonable AAV. Panthers need another center and are looking to add players like Bennett at the expense of finesse guys like Connolly.
Calgary gets Borgstrom for their troubles. He's a complete question mark at this point, but he's still in his early 20s, has a lot of skill, and has spent several years now playing Center against men.

Borgstrom is an RFA, but Calgary will end up taking on fewer than $2m with this deal. That extra cash gives the Panthers the breathing room they need to comfortably sign both Hoffman and Weegar.

Literally 0 interest in this deal.
A middle 6 winger and a guy who might not be in the NHL by 25 for a 24 year old cost-controlled center with upside.

Just doesn't do anything for Calgary except put us in more of a cap crunch. There are still guys like Hoffman and Duclair that could fit the same role and just be cash. You have to understand the market.

The Flames are solid in the regular season but struggle in the playoffs. The solution, trade their best playoff performer?

Connolly has been a no show in the playoffs. His regular season numbers are fine for a mid-six player. The Flames also get older and add $1 million in cap.

This is going to be a no.

Flames should keep Bennett and actually play him at his natural position (center). Its not that he shows up in the playoffs.
It's that they play him at center in the playoffs.

He was the Flames best forward against Colorado playing LW. He's good in the playoffs regardless of position
