Ottawa needs to get to the cap floor, which they’ll have trouble doing without Karlsson, who will definitely be gone, and without Duchene and Stone, both of whom very well could be gone if the season turns out to be a huge disaster and if Melnyk is still running things. They might end up giving Ceci a huge raise just because they have to.

How does this make any sense for the Leafs?

Dermott>>Ceci
Nylander>=Duchene
Cheapass Melnyk isnt taking any cap dumps and you know that so including Horton is moot.

I can’t take anything you have said here seriously.

Do you honestly, realistically think there is any way Ottawa finishes ahead of the Leafs?

Good luck with that, and bump away, but the likelihood is much higher that Ottawa finishes in the bottom 5.

At least you didn’t call Leafs fans delusional, just hated, and then proceeded to post drivel.

Well done.
To be fair Toronto thought Boston had no chance of finishing above you, already locked yourselves into that 2nd division spot before the season started

Who are you referring to when saying “Toronto “?

Everyone knew Boston was a talented, experienced team, and it was pretty clear the last 2 months that they were s lock to take the division, easily being one of the hottest teams before the TDL, and then picking up Nash.

Boston was well respected and Leaf Nation was split on who we wanted to play in the 1st round, with most opting for Tanpa.

Not sure what your point was here, particularly when I was addressing a poster who implied Ottawa could finish ahead of the Leafs this year.

Are you putting Boston and Toronto at the same level as Ottawa? If you are, I would appreciate how you’ve come to that conclusion.

OMG, this is a disgrace.

First, and foremost, Ottawa is not trading for Horton. His contract isn't insured. They won't pay $8+ mil for no reason.

Secondly, taking Horton out of the mix, the trade is dreadful.

Nylander >= Duchene. (MD will likely get less on his next contract too).
Dermott > Ceci. (and TD has 2 years left on his ELC).

This is just brutal.
