Looking forward to Dorion's statement saying this is the "first step of a process towards a long term commitment" or something like that.

Well not mine but in the NHL

4th liners are going to be making 4 mill, 3rd liners 5 mill, 2nd liners will get 7 and first liners will be at 9, superstar players will get 10+ the new minimum will be 2 mill.

Why would they walk away? Who are you going to replace him with? The arbitrator ruled based on the current market--its honestly not that bad. Especially when you consider the idea Ottawa's about to purge all high end talent.

Ehhh... from what I heard, he was pretty terrible. Though wasn't he also on the top pairing (which would mean he'd get a lot of money regardless)?

Oh and of course the arbitrator settles right in the middle. Might as well offer league min from the team side and league max from the player side then...

Cody Ceci makes more money than Roman Josi lmao

No he doesn't. Josi makes 5.25M.

There's no real point in comparing apples to oranges when it comes to a short term arb contract, and a risky long term contract signed right off of an ELC before a player fully establishes themselves.

If the Sens go for a two year term here, they've paid Ceci an average of 3.55M since his ELC expired.

Wonder how this affects Edmonton and the Nurse negotiations. Figure he should get at least as much as Ceci even if a bridge deal
