Yes, until the next time Laine or Roslovic scores.

I heard that Roslovic played so poorly last game that he was moved to the fourth line. PLD big game last night.

Anyways, it’s really silly that a few of you are judging the trade based on a handful of games. After all, that can change pretty quickly.

My biggest issue with PLD and why I didn't think he was the star he's being made out to be yet is because he disappears for long stretches of games and time within games. I think that the Toronto series really overstated his star power last year because eyes were on Columbus, he was a high draft pick, and he played extremely well. He's extremely good no doubt about it, but when I watched him I felt like I was watching the reincarnation of Ryan Johansen.

It will be interesting to see how well PLD does with a very strong forward group and how Laine fairs with a poorer supporting cast.

Laine also disappears for long stretches. He’s very streaky.

Laine being the next Ovi is like Tyler Meyers being the next Chara.

Do people not even consider the fundamental differences in attitude/personality between these comps?

I am glad that Laine is producing so any "Winnipeg got hosed lul" stuff is just banter but I will die on the "Roslovic is no where near this good consistently" sword.

well, I dont think that’s really accurate at all.

ovy in his youth was often chastised for his immature antics (remember his “too hot fire” celebration). Laine is a little more subdued on the ice, and perhaps immature in a different way. However Laine is undeniably still a top elite talent in the league.

Myers is simply not good at hockey, especially comparing him to the likes of Chara.

Of course the Jets got robbed here too, that’s the easy narrative. Just like it was when we got robbed by the Rangers on the Trouba trade. How’d that go?
Let’s see in a couple months from now if Roslovic comes back down to earth, and if Laine goes on another one of his patented month long cold streaks. And there’s the big question of whether or not he can stay healthy. I think his best years are behind him unfortunately.
All that’s IF he even re-signs in Columbus. And that’s looking like a lot bigger if than PLD re-signing in Winnipeg right now. I’d be pretty surprised if 2 or 3 years from now Jets aren’t the winners on yet another trade they got robbed on.

So when Chevy was shopping Laine, Philadelphia offered Nolan Patrick and Travis Konecny. Chevy then countered one of Patrick/Konecny (not sure which one) plus Ivan Provorov, and it's a deal. The Flyers balked at that trade and the rest is history.

Yeah, it would be tough to keep a 23.8% shooting percentage. Especially when your lifetime percentage is around a third of that.

Just like when Evander Kane wanted a trade out of Winnipeg. How many ppl were saying “ohhhh, Jets have no leverage- - you’re gonna have to take a small deal” and we did just fine with that too.
On paper you might say Jets gave a little higher value at first glance- but elite young center depth trumps elite winger depth anywhere. I’m totally happy with the trade and glad Roslo gets an opportunity to show his stuff somewhere else.

It’s such a mentality here- someone had to “win” the trade- there can’t just be 2 teams who both benefitted.

This thread is going to be so much fun to watch as a game by game determination of who won the trade takes place. I'm really looking forward to the day when people accept that was a pretty good hockey trade between three players that wanted out! Both sides have tons of IFs but the reality is both sides got good players.

I'll just leave it as this. So much other useless drivel in this thread it's simply not worth pursuit of correction.

You honestly think a 22 year olds best days are behind him?

    Interesting.

That aside I agree with your assessment on the trade. Way too early to say either way.

If he can stay healthy no, but his seasons haven’t been getting better and I just think his injuries could be an issue. Not saying they will, but could be.

But but but every trade has to have a loser so we have someone to point and laugh at and feel schadenfreude towards! That's just how this works; you can't just... just not have someone who lost!

I’ve never seen anybody shoot like Liane.

...But DAMN....Liane never rushed the net, hipped the d-man out of the way and picked the spot to score.

both of these players are gems. Both teams won/lost this trade.

Yeah, they are so different you can't even really compare the trade. Saw a couple goals from Laine in Columbus and said "God damn". Not many guys in the league can do what he can do. But there also aren't a lot of guys like PLD in the league either, and when he's in shape, we'll see it even more. People are going to look stupid to compare this on a week to week basis but I think both teams got better with this trade and both teams are going to be happy with what they received. It's not like Jets FO is going to be "Laine scored 40 goals, I can't believe it! Why did we trade him?". We already knew he can score, and we also knew he wanted out of here so it really doesn't matter if he has here for another year or not. Why he wanted out and how it came to that is a whole other issue on its own though! But the Jets knew Laine was gone, but have a chance to keep Dubois. Obviously they talked to his dad and his dad has had nothing but good things to say about Winnipeg, so maybe we'll luck out and get to keep him.

Rozlovic is soft he could play a whole period of hockey with a dozen eggs taped to him and not break any eggs.
