He's got top-pair upside without the analytics guys frowning on him, so, yeah, the Analytics Parrots are making this out to be a total slaughter instead of being a merely very good trade for the Jackets.

I could be wrong but all 3 seem like similar players and don't really fill the hole of a Jones type defenseman.

I don't either but he was the AHL defenseman of the year in 19-20. I think he got stuck behind their other d in Carolina so the potential is there.

He's had some real troubles translating that to the NHL, so this is a gamble. But IMO a worthy one.
