Deal to sell Crew to Haslam reached in principle. I am guessing all that needs to happen is MLS official approval.

    If somebody told me a year ago that;
    1. The Crew would stay
    2. Cincinnati will get a MLS franchise.
    3. The Crew would be sold
    4. A new public-private arena would be planned for the Confluance/Arena District West area.
    5. Mapfre would be redeveloped into a recreational-practice facility.
    6. Austin will still get a MLS franchise.

..,.you would own every asset I had.

    Amazing

Wild story. Can't believe they pulled it off. Precourt and the MLS leadership are still welcome to F off.

They were missing some key players.

They were. But Ohio State did last year and they still handled USC.

Any thoughts on WBNS' flip-flop on the Browns-Ravens game?

One one hand, there are probably more Bengals and Steelers fans combined in Columbus than Browns fans (still true with the Baker Bandwagon?), but Browns-Ravens is the bigger game (Ravens win division title with a win) and CBS sent Nantz and Romo to call it (i.e. biggest non-Colts-Titans AFC game of Week 17).

Looks like it started out Browns/Ravens and then flipped back and forth

    That's why I used the term flip-flop.

Ah, my bad on that. I personally feel like I have seen more Browns fans than Bengals/Steelers fans this year around the city

If the Browns' improvement has made them the clear #1 team in Columbus, that would make 10TV's decision even more baffling.

What made the initial flip seem odd to me is that they were going away from CBS' #1 game with an Ohio team in it.

Did they switch back to Browns-Ravens?

I hear Jim Harbaugh said something like "I expect us to tighten up and be better next year".

0-4 vs. Ohio State. Losing record against Michigan State. Losing record in bowl games. 3 years left on his contract. The only thing that will be tightening is the noose.

Marvin Lewis was finally released as head coach of the Bengals.

Could Mike Brown be wrong-headed enough to hire Hue Jackson? It's Mike Brown. It's the Bengals. It's entirely possible.

Agree. Now you'd have to be an idiot to hire Hugh Jackson, but Mike Brown is an idiot.

    Yea.

Almost always when I fired somebody in my career, I then turned and asked them who I should hire to replace them.

Does anyone else think Marvin Lewis walked away rather than got fired?

It was said to be “mutual”, so maybe the front office respectfully told Marvin that he’d be let go if he didn’t step down

I can’t see how they fired him if they kept him for all these years.

All of the empty seats in the stadium may have been the tipping point

I've heard that something on the order of 5,000 season tickets weren't renewed after the Bengals announced that Lewis would be back for 2018.

Had they doubled down on him, they may have lost another 5-10,000. People have really had it with Mike Brown. If Brown brings in Hue Jackson, it will have the same effect as having retained Lewis. I really don't think he is that stupid/pigheaded. Well, maybe:laugh:

On a different note. Bears fans have every right to hate God right now.

Besides the Jackets, my two favorite sports teams are the Orioles and Knicks. The prospect of losing Machado, Porzingis and Panarin all in the space of a little over six months makes me want to just quit sports forever.
