CBC Olympic Power Rankings Spezza #21

Turris went head-to-head with Crosby in the playoffs. Turris was the best Senator and actually did a very good job on Crosby. Crosby had like 1 or 2 even strength points.

Spezza does not go head to head against the stars usually, and when he does, they usually score.

Spezza played 3 games in the playoffs, and probably should have played zero.

If he's healthy, he is matched up against Crosby, like every other year.

Let's try to keep this about Spezza. Who cares about RNH? He'll likely be injured again soon and he plays in Edmonton...he's not relevant. Anyone who is sane knows Spezza is much better anyway.

I think Spezza has another big game tonight. Need to keep up with other Atlantic teams and make up for the last game.

Eric Staal is at 13 and dropping, and -10 I think too...there is no way he should be higher than Spezza. Can you believe that Giroux actually climbed in the rankings? Certain players can do no wrong it seems.

Yeah, that's ridiculous. Staal doesn't belong in the top 30 at this point.

I like that comparison. He's not there yet but they are similar.

The only thing Turris is lacking is the faceoff ability. Otherwise, he's outscoring Bergeron (by 9 points) while getting worse zone starts and playing equal competition.

Both Gerioux ( spelt wrong dont care ) and Stamkos are likely out, how many centers are ahead of Spezza?

Do you realize the olympics are in february?

Edit: nvm. Looks like Stamkos could be gone 2-3 months.

Crosby, Toews, Getzlaf, Tavares, Duchene, Thornton and Bergeron are all centers that I believe are ahead of Spezza at this point (assuming Stamkos is out).

I could see Tavares, Duchene and possibly Getzlaf perhaps playing wing. He could possibly make the extra forward spot and be used as a pp specialist but in all likelihood he would have to outplay Thornton to make this team.

EDIT: Couture as well but he'll probably play wing

As well as a faceoff specialist. Bergeron has that ability as well, however Bergeron could take more defensive faceoffs and Spezza more offensive.
