15 games as starter

9 games allowing 2 goals or less
3 games allowing 3 goals
3 really bad games

those 3 bad games:

4 goals against on 18 shots in 30 minutes
5 goals against on 14 shots in 29 minutes
4 goals against on 14 shots in 34 minutes

So when he is bad, he is really bad. But his numbers certainly are skewed due to those 3 really bad games.

Strictly by the eye test but it seems like AV gives Elliott a longer leash in bad games. I feel like AV protects Hart a little more instead of keeping him out there. Which i don’t have a problem with at this point in his career.

Now if he could just play on the road like he does at home.
That will come in time, there's no fundamental reason for that huge discrepancy.

Putting off actual work for this in depth piece....I went though Hart's 17-18 WHL stats to see if home/road difference was this drastic.

17-18 - sv% home/away = .955/.941
17-18 - GAA home/away = 1.36/1.92

16-17 - sv% home/away = .928/.926
16-17 - GAA home/away = 2.02/2.76

conclusion = we are doomed and it's finally lunch time

I dont think so.

Hart would have been a 1st round pick if he was an inch or so taller at conbine.
another archaic way of thinking: goalie size. Give me the one who stops the puck over size and you hope he gets better. Now if thy are both equal or very close sure go with size.

Just re-watching the '86-87 finals on Sportsnet. They show the games every few days. Game 5 coming up. Hextall's performance in the finals as a rookie was simply amazing. I'm thinking that, when the league resumes in whatever format, a very hot Carter Hart could have a great impact on the '20 playoffs.

I firmly believe Hart is capable of carrying us to a Cup right now.
