I don't think losing Carpenter to waivers would be some great loss to the team, especially if they get Stastny back in a few weeks.

If the third line has continued to be a problem then not changing it becomes more and more silly. It becomes a problem the team accepts that it has.

Carpy's a "glue" guy. So it might not be additional by subtraction should he be put on waivers and lost.

It also doesn't hurt he's playing well at C. It's no coincidence that Nosek, Carpenter and Lindberg are all natural centers. Definitely comes in handy with Stastny and Haula out.

It makes me wonder that when it comes to Haula's contract status, whether Smith might be moved out in order to keep Erik.

The more I think about this move (without a corresponding call up), I'm thinking this move is to make roster spot for Stastny coming off IR.

(But as of Monday night he's still on the IR)
