Damn, just got home from a weekend away and watched the game....Caron looked GREAT. Some players are just better NHL'ers then AHL'ers for some reason, so maybe Jordan is from that ilk.

Agree... And some have stated that here about Caron in the past. Never has it been more apparent than yesterday.

Caron's size, ability to win one-on-one battles, and defensive capabilities really opened up the ice for Kelly and Peverley to do their thing...

The difference with Caron on that line compared to Bourque was night and day.

That's true, but didn't this happen before he got sent up last year? For some reason he doesn't perform as well in Providence.

I think more then anything Bourque has earned his way down to Providence, not Caron earning his way to Boston.

I don't know what it is about succeeding in the NHL over the AHL but that's Caron. People say he's trending down but he's never looked that great in Providence. The best he's looked was last year, it looked like he was finally getting his game together before getting sent back down.

I think he did good, not great. Couple sloppy passes, and a couple bad clears that resulted in a couple icing calls. Not to mention the sin bin assignment for an obvious slash.

However, I still really liked his drive. He played a pretty good game - what I'm hoping for from here is consistency. Can he continue to make a difference on that line..?

One game does not tell the tale, but very encouraging!
Needs to build up some confidence on the defensive half boards, he was playing it safe which was okay given the circumstances, will need to be better at that to create transition.
Really liked how he did not give up when the puck bounced over his stick and made a sweet pass for a goal.
I hope he grabs the opportunity with both hands and makes it difficult for Chia to pull him out.

I think the one thing Caron proved is that Kelly and Peverly need the big body with defensive, board battle abilities to succeed.

Caron doesn't have much of a scoring touch, but he is pretty good at fighting for the puck. Speed is probably the major downside.

But if Chia decides to go shopping for an upgrade, he needs to look for the big body that's reliable defensively but with more scoring ability.

Hopefully Caron won't slide backwards-which is probably my one concern with an AHLer coming up to the NHL.

People seem to forget that Caron was our best player during a 6-8 game stretch last year. It really seemed that he was coming around for a bit, so I am not at all surprised he played effectively yesterday

Granted, I've never seen Soderberg play a game. But, I doubt he will come over and be a reliable defensive player at the NHL level.

Based on his play this SEL season I don't think he will be a reliable center in Claudes system right away. But IMO Soderberg has enough hockey sense and experience of pro hockey to make alot more out of the LW position in Claudes system than Bourque did as a "skill" FW. With that said... I Like Caron alot and think he has a serious chance against the Yeti.

I was impressed with what I saw. Hopefully he can keep that "compete level" up.
Yes,that seems to be the issue with Caron.I am not sure playing with intensity is something that comes easily for him.He is an intelligent player but needs to play every shift like it could be his last and in this case it really could be [at least with the B's].

Thank ****ing god.

I personally much prefer Caron on the third line rather than an old Pandolfo and undersized Bourque.

Caron at the least can gain experience and be a good backup if we don't trade him this year or if he does impress he can be trade bait in landing a bigger fish for that third line.

I would much rather have our young players in Providence like Caron, Macdermid, Krug, Bartkowski be the extra forwards and defensemen over old plug players that are there just to take up space. At the least these young players will gain more experience which is huge going forward.
Yes,Caron is certainly an upgrade over Pandolfo or Bourque. In a perfect world the B's could upgrade that 3rd line position and keep Caron around as an extra body when some inevitable injuries occur.

My only irk with Caron is that I remember him taking a lot of dumb penalties. Hope that's behind him.
I don't blame him too much for that slashing call.. I hate those because sometimes it's more about luck when a stick breaks rather than force. Could be a good stick check that happened to hit exactly on the weak point relative to where the other guy is holding the stick and how much pressure he is putting on it

Yeah, well I think he was just trying to be Hard on the guys stick.. It didnt break did it? I thought he dropped it. Either way i thought it was a sort of Phantom call.

I could be wrong though, dont really remember exactly if it broke or not.

Often, I have little problem with icing calls, two of them alone, he had no forward in front of him to move the puck to, and I`ll guess his intent was probably to clear the zone without really icing it. Opportunities usually arise more consistently when a team doesn`t, at the very least, clear the zone ala icing, and the opponent keeps them locked in there tiring them out.

He made a few sloppy passes, we can go up and down the lineup and see a few of those from everyone, Bruin and Flyers, the hockey in general this year has been exactly that, sloppy

If Caron can play well why trade him? He fits in resign him as his contract is up this year anyway. He is a young player still. I hope he finds his grove He was a first rd pick and has skill and size.

Everything I say is just a guess.I think its a numbers game and Bruins will want a proven veteren for this run at the Cup.Chia is looking everyone sayd and my bet is when he finds a guy that Caron would make most sence to be one the bodies leaving.

I don't see Caron being traded to be honest. With the Cap going down next year i bet we see him full time.

Claude loves him some Defensive players.

Claude also loves him some big bodies and good board work.

I think Caron fits into the future plans because we have some skill forwards close to being ready (Spoons and Koko) but Camara/Payne/Ferlin/Florek are a ways off, if they ever make it.

I would imagine he will be a complimentary player on the third line for at least a few years. I could also see him fit right in with Marchy and Bergy in a shutdown role if and when Segs is given his own line.

i think caron is a going to be a solid 3rd liner for years to come. and i even think he will be a guy who can be in front of the net for the pp and kill some penalties as well.. its time for the b's to start thinking about future replacements for certain roles.. and i think caron has a nice niche in claudes system

Glad to see him back up on the Pro team where he belongs. Like a lot of people were saying it could be a matter of being better suited for the NHL vs the AHL. It could have even just been getting his mind right after getting bounced from the team when the year prior he showed some talent.
