It’s the nature of regular season ticket sales. When you’re operating from a base of 7-8000, it’s extremely hard to sell out regardless of how important the game might be.

Well if my memory is correct, Canes easily sold out the games down the stretch in both 06 and 09, but playoff tickets werent nearly this high.

Like the opposite of this year — granted, I believe we used to give tickets away like candy.

The way these playoffs are going you never know but I don't think Columbus has what it takes to beat Boston.
Yup.

I want Stars over Blues.. in 5 But the goaltending is the difference in their tight games .. my pick has been Stars and very unsure from goaltending ..
the way stars played today .. I’m very high on Stars Winning 2 at home and back at StL

It's still so surreal how this season turned out. So many questionable decisions in the off-season and question marks at the beginning of the season.

New owner as of Jan 2018 (claims he wants to be very involved)
Francis done.... DW as GM
RBA as HC
Flames trade (taking risks with Fox and Ferland)
Skinner traded for pucks
Only signing Mrazek to our goalie arsenal
Rask goes down (blessing so he didn't destroy his trade value for the Nino trade)
Not doing a 1 for 1 D for forward trade
Darling goes down after impressive preseason (Godsend for us to pick up another goalie)
Aho moved to center
Hamilton not playing the best in the beginning due to injury
Zykov waived

And here we are in round 2 beating the defending champs a year and a half later. Incredible stuff we just witnessed.

Wait, the season is over? How did we do?

No, I get your point, and I'm just kidding. But the truly amaze-balls part of this whole thing is that *it's not over yet*. We don't know how it's going to turn out. Hell, there's an outside chance we have *home-ice advantage* in the Eastern Conference Final. Where would that rate on the "no way this is really happening, is it" scale?

I'm having a hard time with the fact that we've won three straight high-pressure playoff games short three key forwards, when it's entirely possible we are short 2-3 forwards to begin with. Patrick Brown, Saku Maenalanen, Clark Bishop, and Greg McKegg all played a regular shift and we won a game on the road in the second round of the playoffs. Warren Foegele and Lucas Wallmark are locks in the lineup, not fringe guys. I can't get over any of this.

One thing that's getting overlooked, because we eventually won and it ultimately didn't affect the end result, but our PP is going to be our downfall this year.

Not that that's news to anyone here, but it's just frustrating to have them make games (and series) much harder than they needed to be because they piss away every PP opportunity.

Some kind of specialist and/or coach has to be priority numero uno this off-season.

Islanders were 0-for-4 as well. I don't think a specialist will help. To me, it's all about confidence, and right now, we don't have any.

So the team has had no confidence for years? Because they have been bad on the playoffs since Brindy was an assistant running it.

I don’t think a specialist player will fix it. We need better coaching in that department.

It's almost as if people are putting their money where their mouth is about being sick of seeing the same matchups all the time, and that the playoffs this year being utter chaos makes things absolutely fascinating for an outside viewer.

naaaaaaaaah.

I think part of this is that the huge hockey followings in markets like New York, Pittsburgh, Philly, Buffalo and -- to a lesser extent -- Washington, are going to watch the games regardless of whether or not their teams are in it. But don't try to tell this to NBC.

Also, I'm noticing a lot of dead air in the NBC broadcasts. It's almost like Eddie O. just doesn't care anymore. There is *not* a lot of analysis going on. Lots of times when I'm expecting a comment about a small play, what I get instead is just quiet.

I noticed this last night. The production value was shit tier if not for John Forslund. What a joke these people are.

We disagree on this one. Coaches can only do so much. I'm quite certain they're not telling the players to spend all day dusting off the puck on every pass, waiting for passing lanes to shut down, and shooting into shin guards. At some point, the players have to execute.

I'm actually leaning toward the opinion of those on the board that our power play is pretty average and doesn't deserve the blame it takes. I've watched every game of the playoffs so far and we're no better or worse than anybody else. St. Louis had a power play today that never even got *close* to setting up in the zone, let alone get any shots off.

When I rewatched the game there was like a really awkward minute between Forslund finishing calling the OT goal and eddie O’s analysis. I was like wait, is anyone going to say something.

I think the goal caught everyone by surprise though.

Actually thought the Sportsnet call was better and more natural. Forslunds call was surprised like everyone.

I....I think something is happening. There’s no discernible difference between any of the teams still playing. Only Tampa, Boston and Calgary really separated themselves from the pack this year, and if you really crunch the numbers probably only Tampa. They’re gone.

What’s left is confidence, brotherhood and goaltending. Who uhhhhh does that sound like?

Luckily we are playing a team that --inconceivably--may have a worse pp than ours lol.

Like I've posted elsewhere, I seem to have a penchant for cheering for teams with bad pps (sigh). I'm not saying ours is good AT ALL...but I've seen signs of life and a possibility to improve. I'm cautiously optimistic that we can find a groove this series and the Isles are not the same heart-shattering possible threat that Caps were (when they're units were on).
