With a top-six group that appears set for the foreseeable future, the Carolina Hurricanes are desperate for scoring help from their bottom-six. The organization is also looking for one of their numerous defensive prospects to become an everyday defenseman in the NHL.

Management and fans alike are hungry for a playoff berth and there is reason to believe that a few of these skilled youngsters can certainly carry this team to the playoffs once more.

Lindholm showed up to NHL training camp with some question marks, mainly whether or not he would be able to make an immediate contribution to the NHL roster.… read more

and the ? marks remain. from draft day to last game. most fans were pretty excited penciling him into the 3rd line center slot because this team needs him (or someone). great hopes were held for the guy this season due to this team being so utterly lacking in depth and having to play AHL tweeners on the first line and throughout the roster.
most of the other draftees in Lindholm's class are doing very well. a few others got sent down for another year. very, very little is known about Lindholm still. he certainly hasn't stood out (yeah the injuries and stuff, I know). I suppose all top draft picks hold promise but are a crap shoot, especially in the top FIVE (this year in particular so deep and all) or ten anyway, so who knows. ?'s do remain that's for sure.

  3. The only question in my mind is: how long will it take for Murphy fanboyism on here to finally die?

I'm sure the aforementioned prospects will be so much better than the useless veterans, like ex-Hurricane Jussi Jokinen, that just don't fit into Muller's vision of what his team should be. Good job, Kirkie! Hope you enjoyed last night ... :sarcasm:

Lindholm has answered questions? With his one preseason game, one developmental game and fourth line minutes?

    Yeah... Muller traded away Jokinen.

I think that you've found another NHL sekret there!

Once again WalkerBabe never lets the truth get in the way of her point of view. Anybody else remember that NO NHL team wanted Jokinen when we waived him last year?

Yeah, and Jussi played so well last year that the Canes generously paid most of his salary in the trade. :sarcasm:

Jokinen looked like crap last year despite being a former 30-goal scorer for us who appears to have plenty of "game" left in him... Not saying that's all on Muller but he was quoted in the N&O today saying not everything was "fair" last year and that he was basically glad to be traded.

"Kirkie" clearly should have put him on Malkin's line here in Raleigh. And he should definitely stop telling Cam to play deep into the net.

    Coaches be crazy y'all

So none of you think Jussi might have contributed more last year if Muller had given him more playing time and a little bit of respect? I suspect Jussi, Brandon, Dennis Seidenberg are glad to be where they are ...

If we still had Jussi, we would be over the cap by 2m.

Last year was a **** show due to the injuries, and Jussi couldn't handle the role we needed him to play, and his cap hit would have been hell for us this off season.

Muller had nothing to do with Brandon Sutter or Dennis either.

More playing time? Are you serious?

Do you realize Muller gave him more ice time than Bylsma?

Jokinen was a healthy scratch and 4th liner in the playoffs last year. I guess that is "respect"?

Give Jokinen more ice despite being a detriment to whatever line he was on?

It IS a Bring back Mo topic!

Now there you go interjecting facts into this debate. Don't you know this is a matter of the heart? That mean ugly Muller had the nerve to go and get hired after her darling, charming, witty Mo got canned (again). This isn't a time for facts and figures, it's a time for scapegoating!

Jokinen was the best bargain forward that we had. We traded him away for a bag of pucks and ate some salary in the process. He was not utilized properly. As for Muprhy, I like his offensive upside but he also strikes me as a defensive liability. Being sent down to hone his defensive game might do wonders for him... Question is: How bad is Komi?

3M for a diminishing point total is not a bargain.

3m for a 60 point scorer is quite the bargain. Oh yeah, he was also never injured....

I said nothing about Muller coaching Seidenberg ... I'm talking about the organization's ability to let good players go and then regret it!
